AndyRoo
Hello all, By any chance, does anyone happen to know of any companies that make garden swings but for grown-ups? I was going to Google 'adult swing' but I'm too afraid. Cheers, Andy

CatieB
I was going to Google 'adult swing' but I'm too afraid. I would be too. My funniest, or perhaps scariest google ever - I once saw a lady with a lovey pair of trainers on sitting in front of me on a bus, she was too far away to ask where she got them but I thought thats fine they are quite unique I will easily find them using google. Trust me do not google variations of buckle trainer suffice it to say what I got back was not footwear. Sorry I can't help with your question. Groovychook
I think if you put 'garden swing seat' into google it should be a safe bet!
soapdragon
You could try looking at some of the bigger garden centres websites....you don't have to buy through said centre if you find one you like but just go to the manufacturer direct. The outlaws did this with some garden furniture and saved a fortune. On the subject of Googling; when YS was born he was early (29 weeks) and so I wanted a specific type of sling to carry him around. Someone suggested one of the huge fabric ones; made by a company called Big Momma Slings. Stupidly that's what I Googled. Goodness, there are some very inventive/imaginative/uninhibited people out there on the interweb...... I only checked out the first three sites that came up before it became blindingly obvious that I ad to refine the search terms
AndyRoo
Haha, I know it seems like such a totally innocuous thing to search for, but I am afraid that certain things can never be unseen! lol I tried some of the garden centres, but they just have those what I call porch seats which I associate with my grandparents, I wanted something to is almost like a child's jungle gym kind of thing - but big enough to accommodate a 6ft (very childish) man. hehe
AndyRoo
Can't really answer the question, but you could get in touch with this guy... Oooooh, no! I feel a little bit dizzy just watching that video - I think I'd give myself a heart attack!
soapdragon
Try approaching this from a different angle, AndyRoo (sometimes Asperger's is quite enjoyable )! Do you know of anyone locally who does carpentry and could make what you want from a sketch to fit where you want it to go? Might be a bit more expensive but at least you'd get exactly what you want! Cat tails
Looking for something like this? We have them in bigger versions here in Dutch playgrounds. Some of them are more than a meter in diameter. Edit: I think they are called flying saucer swings. Edit edit: If you google Playground swings for adults (safe to do so, I checked) you'll get somewhere.
AndyRoo
What does AndyRoo have to do with aspergers!? Or is there some kind of insider joke I am not getting? I think I've actually managed to find the kind of thing that I was after, and it seems that the description is more accurate if I use the term hammock. This is pretty much the kind of thing I am after. Although I am struggling to find any companies that don't just make bog standard hammocks. Maybe I'll have to get one customer built! Alis girls
That looks lovely but I know I'd get off and fall in the water feature as sure as God made little apples my ES when in year 4 at school apparently found a dodgey website by typing in star wars. Headmistress a cumley lady who never married and was quite religous was very apologetic to me. I just giggled - cant imagine what came up and am not going to try. Hes now 20 and totally unscared by his delve into websites of dubious reputation. enjoy your swinging (on your swing)
Cinnamon
I like that. Now where in my new 17 acres of woods can I fit one of those in? It has gone down on my to-do list (as in I must tell Him to make one for me ) It may have to be slightly more reinforced....... This emigration lark is getting the better of me - am existing on my nerves, wine & walkers crisps for the next couple of weeks!
soapdragon
No, I have Asperger's and often approach things from a totally different angle from the norm...hence getting one made rather than looking for what you want ready made and not finding it! Oh, I did wonder. I wouldn't worry, it didn't even come across that way. Although two of my cousins have Aspergers, so maybe I don't even notice it anymore.
