Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I have come home from work and found one of my bantam twins dead in the pond,.

 

Normally they manage to get themselves out and very rarely fall in, I can only think that they were having a fight and she fell in that way i really dont ahve a clue.

 

I having a run of bad luck again, seriously not my year

What a shock for you to find that. How awful... you must be so sad. I really hope your luck changes. How is the other twin?

The other twin is still nest sitting, she has been broody for about 3 weeks now,............ yep, dont ask!!!!!!!!!! so she hasnt really noticed at the mo, she will do when she finally gets her bum of the nest as they were inseperable ( until they get broody)

Sorry about your wee bantam .

When I saw the pond in your run pics I wondered about chickens and water - I assumed it was quite shallow. I think someone else on here lost a chicken in a pond or trough - very sad

Thankyou all for the kind words and hugs, She was such a character, she may have been one of the smallest, but she wouldnt stand for no nonsense, . Her twin is still nest sitting so hasnt noticed yet,

Isnt is silly how we get so attached to them, As someone else said, if you dont have chickens you really dont realise how attached you get to them, whether you have just the one or 20 odd, they are all so special,

well i did consider it, but i have had the girls there since i got them, and this is the first problem i have had with it, so may leave it for now,
