Annabel
One of my ladies just laid this this morning- anyone had a weird egg like this before and does it signify anything wrong?
Luvachicken
I've had wrinkly eggs before but it was a long time ago. Sadly, I've had so few eggs for such a long time that I've forgotten what they are I've also forgotten if wrinkly eggs are a problem or not. You could give them some tonic, that always helps in egg production.
Annabel
Lol thank you for the advice and sorry you are largely without eggs (at least chickens have great personalities to make up for it!)
The Dogmother
Oh yes, in fact I had one just this last week; mis-shapen with a soft and wrinkly shell. Could be down to any number of reasons and would only be common if the bird has been infected by mycoplasma or infectious bronchitis. If they are fed on layers feed, no treats and wormed regularly, then i wouldn't worry about the odd wonky egg. The egg below had such a soft shell that i put my finger through it
Annabel
Wow that is a funny looking egg. This is the first one that we have had and the shell is not soft like yours, it is hard -the wrinkly bits of shell are like an extra thick layer of shell. Very weird - hopefully as you say, not a problem though! Thanks for your help.
mullethunter
I have had them but only rarely. And with hard shells. I always think it looks like they made the shell too big so it’s a bit baggy!

I was actually scared to eat it!
The Dogmother
It's fine - what I call 'on the scale of normal'. Shell gland malfunction probably
