porridge advice needed asap pls

Recommended Posts

I cook it with water, and then add raisins, sunflower seeds, or whatever is to hand - I save it for cold, rainy days though!

My top tip is plastic Chinese takeaway dishes, of which I seem to have an abundance  - I save them, put them through the dishwasher and then use them for porridge or other treats. Then I usually just bin them, once they've been trampled around the run - saves having to clean an extra feed bowl.

hope you don't have chicken in them first! (Takeaways are quite likely to have used broiler birds which is just as sad as battery chickens, sorry if I sound like I'm lecturing) I have a great recipe for salt and pepper chicken which I make with organic chicken although, lately I am thinking twice about eating chicken!

After all my efforts this morning, they never touched the stuff! Nearly trampled each other though when I put in a new seed tray with grass turf in it and when I gave them sweetcorn!

Mine have porridge made in the microwave. I make it with warm water and then nuke it for about 1 - 2mins. They usually get a gloop of natural yoghurt, some poultry spice and some dried fruit or sliced grapes, sweetcorn, pellets or whatever comes to hand. All served in an old stork margarine tub on the back door step when they call.

I used to give my girls porrige but noticed that some of them lost their fluffy bum feathers. My bluebell in particular ended up with a red bottom, but since i have stopped giving them it i have noticed her feathers are growing back .....it's amazing.Layers pellets has all the goodness that chickens need and so they have a plate of pellets mixed with hot water just enough to fluff the pellets up for breakfast They also have a continuous supply of dried layers pellets 24/7 and lettuce or cabbage when i get it. :D

If you add some sweetcorn to the porridge, they will have to try the porridge! They will soon get a taste for it. I make it with pellets soaked in warm water (they like it quite runny - and pellets absorb a heck of a lot of water!) or leftover bread crusts, soaked and mashed up to a porridgey consistency. They get a bowl at tea time and I add any extras to it like poultry spice, garlic powder, flubenvet!

They make that Hannibal Lecter slurping sound when they eat it!
