Sheilaz
Thinking of you too, Rachel. Big hugs to you from me too. Just renewing topic to say a little word to Mel & Paul. We'll be thinking of you today & tomorrow as you focus on saying your last goodbyes to mother/in law. You have been in my thoughts all week, I hope happy memories soon overtake the distress of the past few days, and that you will have the strength that you need at this sad time. Heaps of love, xx

Cate in NZ
Mel, Just really reiterating what Sheila put so beautifully yesterday. I hope that the funeral yesterday went well (as well as a funeral ever can anyway) and I'll be thinking of you and Paul again this afternoon for the Memorial. Such a nice idea that though, so that her friends who couldn't make it to the church can have the opportunity to say goodbye too. Very thoughtful of you both, but probably quite hard on you too, having to go through 2 services, and 2 groups of her family and friends, and all the emotions that that entails. Good luck, and big hugs.
kannie
Sorry to hear of your loss, Mel. At least you had a good time together over Christmas. It's really good that you're doing a memorial service too: in my professional life I've seen so many occasions where older people's deaths get shunted away rather than being properly marked. Its so much more healthy for everyone to celebrate the life that was and actively acknowledge its passing.

Mel (& Paul)
To you all Thank you so much for all your kind words and support. Yesterday was really tough, but knowing you were all sending postive thoughts really helped. I cant really put into words how good you have all been to me, so please just accept this rather poor note as thanks. I do think once we have had the memorial service in Yeovil this afternoon, we will be able to look forward. I am trying very hard to support Paul and his family and remind them of the good things - and we got a photo of Philomena and Bryan (who died 12th January 2005) from our wedding album - it is an old photo (we have been married 16 1/2 years) but they look so happy and full of life that I thought it would be good to get copies done to show the family what they were like and how we should remember them. The hardest thing at the moement is we are so tired and drained we are struggling to do the normal things. Neither of us want to return to work next week, but I do think with time it will become easier. Thank you all so very much. Mel x
Guest
Mel, keep going! Presumably after this afternoon you'll have the weekend to relax together and do some unwinding. You need that time together. It's time to look after yourselves now that the responsibilities are dealt with. Still thinking of you!
Mel (& Paul)
Unfortunately we havent had any time together at all. A relative has been with us since Philomena was taken ill. If he werent with us he would be on his own, but Paul and I are very much looking forward to having time together. Thanks again guys. The Dogmother
Wise word Ginette Take time to relax over the weekend if you can, have a glass or three of vino and a few squares of G&B, a nice hot bath and an early night. Take care Mel

Karen & co.
Hi Mel and Paul, hope the weekend gives you both some space to relax and talk things over, and sometimes just being together in silence helps too. love and thoughts, Karen x
Mel (& Paul)
Thanks again guys. It was a good memorial service yesterday and gave her friends a chance to say goodbye. Paul and I managed to have yesterday evening together (once we got back home!!) and we were saying it was lovely this morning to be on our own and we really appreciated each other's company. The relative, John, who has been with us since Christmas is coming back tonight and staying the rest of the weekend, otherwise he'd be on his own, and although he's a lovely chap and a wonderful houseguest I am really looking forward to being back to "normal" next week (even if it does mean back to work ) You've all been so great - I am looking forward to seeing lots of you next week in Kew
