Christian
They are 27 weeks on Saturday Sarah! "Sisters, sisters, never were there such devoted sisters"!! Watch out for the light sussex, mine is a feisty madam. Not bullying as such, but will have little digs at the new two! She has to 'duck' to get into the eglu! She is massive. When the 3 of them are all tucked up for the night, there is still room though!
Cinnamon
They are 27 weeks on Saturday Sarah! "Sisters, sisters, never were there such devoted sisters"!! Watch out for the light sussex, mine is a feisty madam. Not bullying as such, but will have little digs at the new two! Mine is a big old bruiser too. I had no intention of getting a Light Sussex, but Brian loved her & he had just driven me all the way there. Fern is second in the pecking order to Bramble my French Maran, who is even bigger & tougher than she is Mine are all in together now,by default rather than plan as the dividing fence came free & they pushed their way through
chickencam
My light sussex is at the bottom of the pecking order by a long way despite being the biggest by a long way She is so docile but doesn't like to be caught but once you have hold of her she is fine
Christian
Well after reading about Cinnamon's girls accidentally free ranging together, I decided yesterday to see how the girls would all get on. After an initial eyeing up, and a bit of noise, they were fine!! Then Shirley and Prudence started fighting but it was all over it a few seconds. Then Elsbeth and Laverne had a go at eachother. Again, no blood drawn. i left for work this morning leaving OH with strict instructions not to let them free range together until about 4pm today. I called him at 9am to say that i had arrived at work and he said that the girls were all out free ranging together!! No fights, the occaisional 'bok bok' and 4 eggs layed in each others eglu!! It seems all is going well *touches wood*
Cinnamon
Easy this introductions lark, isn't it? Glad its going well Christian. My little Clover still won't come out of hiding, except for a quick beakful of food, before Lily has a quick beakful of her And I now have 12 hens, & have had NO EGGS TODAY (this must be a record???) The Dogmother
None off mine either Sarah, but I bought some from Lesley on Saturday, then my neighbour gave me half a dozen for looking after her girls for the week... I need to make some cakes!
Christian
Just been outside to lock the girls up for the night and they are all in one eglu there is still quite a bit of space in there too! OH is muttering the words '30 day money back guarantee' We do need both eglus and runs for when we are away overnight though. Got me thinking! The Dogmother
They'd still all sleep in one eglu though Hon.
