Sheilaz
I used to post occasionally on The Archers forum - quote]Now you can even do that here, as an Archer's topic was started a couple of days ago! Do join in, Night Nurse! I love the nature of this forum, although, like Kate A I usually baulk at the thought of joining anything exclusive. But, I don't think this forum is exclusive in a negative way. It would be a bit odd to include anyone who didn't like Eglus or Omlet, wouldn't it? It is an extremely inclusive forum, where everyone who joins is welcomed, never shunned or ignored, and people are treated with respect & friendliness at all times. Let's keep it that way. Night Nurse
I've weighed into that thread, Sheila......Thanks!!! and I agree with you - there are thousands of forums out there, covering all manner of interests - t'would be daft to turn this into a free for all - we're all primarily here for the same reason, although it's nice to have the Nesting Box where we can all witter away about all sorts, not necessarily chook related! Popcorn
Off Topic Here Well, as the self appointed 'off topic' moderator, I do get rather upset at the limited use of my special sign.....even though the opportunites are a plenty but the 'off topics' are always so amusing, it's seems rather rude to interupt the natural flow of a conversation, even if it does always turn into pants! As for..... I'm dreading this becoming an open forum. I hope James doesn't take the leap as it's so daunting on some of the other forums. I'll go kicking and screaming if he does ! and......... If this becomes an open forum I won't hang around and....... I'll just go.............. quietly Don't go!!!!!!!!! JAMES - You have to keep it closed! Night Nurse
It involves putting out a strongly worded post aboout how horrid everyone is, no one understands you etc etc.......and stating you're never going to visit the forum again. You then pop back every 1/2 hour or so, and respond graciously to the posts begging you to stay..... A bit like an operatic soprano on a 'farewell tour'....these things can go on for years! I thought a while ago I got my Knuckles rapped for wanting the forum to be closed .... maybe F.W has made alot of you re-think .. for the better . I like the omlet crowd ..... what a load of good 's I think most of us agreed before, Sarah, to keep it mostly closed but with a few exceptions for likeminded people & short term visitors. It seems to be working, so hope it stays this way.

Guest
I'm dreading this becoming an open forum. I hope James doesn't take the leap as it's so daunting on some of the other forums. I'll go kicking and screaming if he does ! There are several reasons why this will most likely not become an Open Forum. a) This forum is for those who have bought the eglu, or those that are interested in buying (who can come to the forum on a trial basis). As the Company that provides the eglu, it is within Omlet's interests to keep this forum well-policed and non-Open. b) There is an extremely well-established family-feeling and community spirit on this forum. I know we go off the rails occasionally, but it's a really nice, comfortable, place to be. c) Eglu owners can come here seeking advice (and friends ), and they usually get it within minutes. That's not to say that they wouldn't get it on an open forum, but I think this forum is definitely top notch for friendly, informative and relevant information. It's also offers sympathy when things aren't going so well. Personally, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. d) As it stands, this forum is a real asset to Omlet. What Omlet have here is a wonderful community spirit in us (the people) and it would be foolish to risk that by making it completely open. We all have a common interest. P.S. These are just my thoughts - I don't have any inside info. But quite honestly, I don't think it's ever going to happen.

Cate in NZ
Graham, this is becoming a habit, but I agree with you........ again I think that must be twice in a week Oh, and I loved that wine you recommended too, does that make it 3 times In addition to all those very good points that you made in favour of Omlet keeping the forum closed I'd also argue that we do them a wonderful job in adertising the eglu. We're a very satisfied group of customers who indulge in friendly banter, dish out chicken-keeping advice to each other, with the more experienced members sharing their knowledge with the novices, and frequently comment on just how fantastic we all think the eglu is. To the extent that some of us end up with a second, or even third eglu We even invite interested prospective eglu-owners into our own gardens, just so that they can see for themselves just how great our eglus are. That kind of positive publicity can't do Omlet any harm at all
Mel (& Paul)
I love all you guys - I think whats so great is that you can get really helpful advice about chooks without being made to feel rather stupid, but you can also talk about anything else and know that others have been through what you have been through and that they are always there for you. And if something goes well there is GENUINE pleasure for whatever it might be - a first egg, a new job, new house, etc. etc., Some of the other forums can get a bit snidey so that when you get congratulations it isnt always honestly meant. Go Omleteers:D
