Cinnamon
I joined another forum a few days ago. Nothing to do with Chickens........... Anyhow, I asked a few questions in my usual polite & cheerful manner AND GOT STAMPED ON A few older forum members really took offence to something I said, & a site admin then took it upon herself to edit out the bits on some posts, but not mine, making ME look loke a trouble maker & all round bad egg So, just to say I LOVE you lot why can't all forums be like this one? Guest
You do realise that asking people on other forums to get their pants out might not be a good idea????! Seriously, what did you ask to cause so much offence?
The Dogmother
I'm registered on another chicken-y forum too, but I don't visit it often. They're welcoming enough, but it doesn't have the atmosphere, friendliness or banter that we have here.
Cinnamon
Ah yes in retrospect bringing up pants may have been a bad idea in my first posting. Am keeping schtum about where & what, sorry
Mrs Blue Sky
I know what you mean - I registered with River Cottage and lurked a good deal but was too scared to post - there are some very strongly expressed opinions going on there and I was afraid to draw anyone's fire! This forum is so cuddly, and it's the first one I've joined so I think I'm spoilt now...
Mrs Frugal
Well at least you know where you're welcome Sarah. Stick with us and you'll be fine ! And we can talk about pants without fear of censorship ! And we DO!!
Cinnamon
Thanks I quite like River Cottage, but it can be a bit scarey at times (all that testosterone!) Shame about the other forum as it was sort of specialist & I needed some specialist advice. All I got was a great deal of ranting & some VERY strong opinions The thing that really did it for me was the site admins actions - not on at all.........Kate wouldn't do that ! Mrs Frugal
I've not had chance to do any SERIOUS pant waving yet though ! I doubt that anything you would say could be worthy of serious pant waving anyway though, Sarah.
Lesley-Jean
Yes this is the best forum I often read River Cottage but would be scared to post there. FW might get me Omlet rules OK
Karen & co.
I was a forum virgin (can I say that?) until I tried this one, and after reading lots of posts for ages as a guest, I logged on rather nervously and everyone was so friendly, Thankyou, Omlet is a good one still not ventured anywhere else yet Karen x
Sheilaz
Same here, Karen, and probably for a lot of us. Having browsed on a few others since, I agree entirely about this one. I think it's a tribute to the original members & moderators, that it started off with a unique atmosphere, so friendly & encouraging, which has been kept up. Power corrupts? I don't think Kate will ever get too big for her pants (I can't add Graham to that sentence ) Kate, Graham & also all our moderators are so helpful, but obviously some people let the title of site administator go right to their head. I think it's easy for a clique to develop which is hard to break into. Shame, but thankfully not the case here. Sarah, if you have a specialist question, let a little time go by & then ask here, there's no end to the knowledge available, you never know! Or, post it immediately so we can try guessing what the forum was and take a peek!
Popcorn
I joined the P P forum and got scaredy pants. I feel like a fish out of water and wouldn't dare mention 'pant waving!' Isn't Omlet just great We can all really be ourselves. Can you get the Omlet Pedestal out Kate
Nicola H
I agree the Omlet forum is the best, even before becoming a moderator, everybody was so welcoming and nice I didn't feel intimidated at all and feel we have all become great friends, and everybody can join in with any discussion without recrimination or judgement....................I love my forum fix it cheers me up every day........... Stick with Omlet Sarah no nasty admin. here.............
bracken
This is my first ever forum too. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. You could'nt wish to meet a nicer bunch of pant wavers
Cate in NZ
I agree entirely with everything you've all said. The Omlet was my first forum, and maybe I got spoilt because everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Sure, we disagree from time to time, but it's never nasty or personal, and everyone is interested in other peoples' experiences and opinions. An example of that is the Home Education thread- here we're interested and respectful of Freerange's experiences, and accept with huge respect that she's made a very deliberate and responsible decision for her children, which has sparked a lot of interest. It may, or may not be an option for others, but a very valuable thread with a lot of responses. Anyone read the Home education thread on RC recently? Last time I looked (weekend ) there were a lot of strongly expressed opinions, not always courteous. Thought about trying it as an experiment on - but since I'm still struggling to persuade them to recognise me I decided against it. I love you lot..... and that's not just the red wine talking
bracken
Was it the white wine too?
Cate in NZ
No, definitely red The white was too warm, so started with red, then celebrated escaping an extremely *%!!**% day at work by opening another bottle
bracken
Cant fault you for that!
PurpleHen
Yes another positive comment to add to all the others. Before joining this forum I had extensive experiance of internet use - but had never joined a forum so didn't realise how great it could be. Again - I have looked at others since, but have never joined in anywhere else as they all seem so scary. Strange really as I'm very outgoing in real life and you would think the anonimity of the internet would make people braver (And you don't even mind the odd spelling mistake which is helpful for me )

Lesley
I feel happier in this forum as well - I didn't even know what a forum was until this one started up I have visited a few others and still lurk in RC and Mrs.L's. RC can be scary and I've been verbally bitten a couple of times P P still won't recognise me at all and won't even let me in for a browse as a guest This forum is just so friendly and I miss it when I'm away. Guest
I think everyone on this thread has been drinking far too heavily! Someone will suggest a group hug in a minute.... (which is fine, just as long as I'm in the middle. )
Lesley
Not me - I don't drink! We're saving the group hug for the June Get -together
Linda
This isn't really a forum for eglu owners, chicken nuts & self-sufficiency enthusiasts, is it?! It's insomniacs anonymous!!!
