xScrunchee
Yesterday while I was cleaning the girls out and moving things about in their run I had an idea I have used part of the Eglu run skirt and made the girls a shelf attaching it with Eglu run clips . The chain is to support the outer corner so it is not wobbly. It is actually pretty sturdy and the girls seem to enjoy it
Ain't Nobody Here
That's a good idea . Very ingenious! (Do you have the run but not use it?) Pictures of it being utilised are required, you do realise .

xScrunchee
They have also got the children's slide in the run and the bottom branches of my Christmas tree. Just trying to give them lot's to do being that they are in their run more than usual. They like jumping on the slide and scratching about underneath it and I have hung the tree branches up in the run and I stick bits of cabbage and things in it so they have to have a 'look' for their food. Have just got them a ball to put treats in and a seed block thing to keep them busy on christmas day and boxing day. Spoilt?? Nah-not my girls! CockADoodleDoo
could we have a pic of the whole new run?
Jules.
your shelf is what a good re-use of materials.

chickenlass
Very clever. Looks super. What sort of a seed block have you given them please. Is it just a wild bird food block or something you have concocted yourself?
Blonde Chicken
That is inspired! it looks great, I may just have to steal that idea for our run.
Guest
chickens on a slide, now THAT you have to take a photo of
Snowy
Poet, it's common knowledge that chickens love to play on slides! This is Pom, just before she slid down: (and no, the boys didn't put her there, she went up all on her own!)
BeckyBoo
Yes, we've had chickens on our slide too although I've never managed to get a photo Pom looks very dignified, ours look dignified at the top but hysterically flustered once they hit the bottom! They get up looking round as if to say "did anyone see that? I meant to do that!" It's very funny! Lovin' the shelf thingy though, storing that one away in the ideas bit for our new run. Piccies of the whole thing please (in case there's anything else I want to copy! ) Mrs Bertie
Snowy
Yes I must admit I felt quite guilty for laughing hysterically at her coming down!
Ain't Nobody Here
Poet, it's common knowledge that chickens love to play on slides! Indeed! Q: "Why did the chicken cross the playground?" A: "To get to the other slide!"
BeckyBoo
I love them dearly but I do think that chickens are just about the daftest creatures to walk this earth. And I use the term walk to encompass waddling, running like a velociraptor and that half-run-with-wings-outstretched-to-make-you-go-faster thing they do whenever I or anyone else appears at the back door - just in case we've got treats you understand! People who don't have hens just don't get how funny they can be! Mrs Bertie

chocchick
I might as well add my cracker joke What do you call a chicken in a shell-suit? An egg! I like the shelf and who can resist the story of a chicken plummeting down a slide They do have some flying mishaps
chocchick
Spoilt?? Nah-not my girls! It's nice to spoil them. I'm buying eggs to give them protein as they have given up on laying eggs and are losing feathers instead. I'm sure something's gone wrong somewhere.
