Cooking with Gordon

Recommended Posts

We often eat at that time of night.... but we won't be cooking with Gordon.

Why is it part of the Ch4 series with Hugh and Jamie? :?

From what was said on RC, the ingredients are neither in season or local for most people - they mentioned hand dived scallops and organic sirloin

I agree Lesley, hubby and I were discussing this over lunch today, and on first impressions it all sounds a bit strange to be associated with the Food Fight Series after Jamie & Hugh's campaigning. My conclusion though was that too many people no longer know how to cook, or what real, decent quality food tastes like. Perhaps the aim is to demonstrate that it is possible to cook a 3 course meal using fabulous ingredients in less than hour that actually tastes good, better probably than most restaurant food. The meal planned is simple, steak and oven chips, so just about anyone could do it, it's about confidence............maybe Gordon could provide the great British public with that :?

I'd have preferred the emphasis to be on British, seasonal produce though.

My son wanted to cook along with it and as it was advertised with the no swearing tag, I said that I would record it and he could do the steak and chips bit today. We haven't watched any of it....is there really quite a bit of swearing in it? That's been my only problem with the Jamie programmes as well.

The programmes are an ideal opportunity to educate children and young people but I do object to the excessive language.

It doesn't set a good example.

You wouldn't want him to watch it Janty - the word was said within the first 20 seconds by Ramsey himself and frequently by JSP. There was the nudist woman who flashed all her bits before putting on an apron and furhter bad language and some very strange comments from others later on :?

I think his programme would have been a better vehicle for cooking a decent meal within a tight budget - put an end to all the "I can't afford it" nonsense. He could really have made an impact and he could show what to do with the leftovers.
