bracken
My Oh went to the tropical fish place near us at the end of November last year to buy half a dozen fish for his Biorb.....which would have cost between £10-£15 and came out with...................A vivarium with all the relevant fixtures and fittings and two Bearded dragons????????? It all came to just over £400!!! Best thing about it was that he never got the fish at all????????????? Men!!!!!

Egluntyne
My Roomba is here! It came this afternoon. It has done nearly the whole of my downstairs, and you can tell that it has been vacuumed because it leaves marks in the carpet....which I like to see. It is just whistling round my ankles at the mo whilst I am on the computer. It keeps nudging me out of the way. It does take a lot longer than conventional vacuuming.....but what the hell if you are free to do something else. I shall be interested to see what is in the dust thingy when it has finished. So far so good.
Louise
Yay I know it takes about 45 minutes to do a room completely but the point is IT does it and not you
Egluntyne
I was very surprised at how much muck it actually shifted. The downstairs was done 2 days ago with the Dyson (which is very effieient), but I let the Roomba loose last night and the bin had to be emptied twice! So far I'm impressed. Him Indoors, amid much eye rolling, has christened it R2D2.

Yorkshire Pudding
That would improve my life SOOOOOOOO much - but OH has spent all the spare cash on a firepit for the garden this month. So I'll have to stick to the Dyson and live on toasted marshmallows.

I worked out that it was equal to the cost of 10 x 4 hour visits from a cleaning lady plus bus fares.( They always sting you for bus fares in Sheffield) And it doesn't drink tea. Think yourself lucky your cleaner only drank tea I only had a cleaner for a year or two when my kids were really small. She had a lot of 'man' problems and I often came home to find her in tears and three quarter ways down a bottle of my red wine I should have sacked her really, but I am such a softie and didn't want to add to her woes Tessa
fairy&cake
awww Tessa your so lovely. I would love a cleaner, but not an actual person. A cleaner robot. A someone who could dust, empty bins, make beds etc. I dont like the idea of a cleaning lady being able to go through your stuff! I so desperatly want a Roomba. I shall save for one. I got a tin money jar from the £1 shop that you have to open with a can opener. So i am saving for one with that. When i actuallly open the jar i know i wont end up spending it on a Roomba though, it'll go on Food or seths shoes etc. :( :(

I was the same Two uses and I had to clear the brushes of hair That requires a bit of dismantling and is under the regular maintenance bit but not after two 45 minute cleaning sessions But it is very efficient and because it covers the ground several times it must pick up more than a quick shove round with the other vacuum I am going to be gutted this weekend when I have to get the dyson out to do the stairs
Ain't Nobody Here
I went to the shops to buy a blue tubtrug (got the last one ) and came back with this. Saves me digging out an overgrown bed, I can move it if the weather gets too windy or hot, and I can put it out of the way of naughty beaks . I want to come live in Sheffield! My cleaner charges £10 an hour - so that Roomba would cost me £400. She doesn't stop to drink tea, comes in her Mercedes and works like a demon - she is amazing. Oh and in the school holidays she brings her son to play with James as well.
Egluntyne
I was quoting the prices for when I had a cleaner a few years ago (the only decent one I ever had was the lovely Yvonne and I omit her from all my grumbles!) It was about £6.50 -£ 7.50 an hour plus bus fares then, 5 or 6 years ago. I dare say it will be more now. I am very happy with my Roomba so far. fairy&cake
One question: Is the Roomba noisey? Id ideally like to have it on when seths in bed. BUt is it noisey??
Egluntyne
Not as noisy as my Dyson, but probably as noisy as a little cylinder vac I would say. You can put it in the room you want to clean and then shut the door.....that might do the trick.
fairy&cake
I wish i could get one I would love one. If i win the lottery tonight its Roombas all round. I promise to buy everyone one that wanted one.

One Man Banned
Makes me grateful for my cleaner. She costs me £25 per week comes on a Tuesday and Friday for two hours. She does a good job most of the time, will let the dog out, doesn't drink although if she did I wouldn't mind. She gives the hens some treats and might bring her youngest round to play with Molly or feed the laydees. Oh, did I mention that she used to live her, we bought the house from her nearly four years ago now A xx
