Omletina Kyckling
It's official. The world has gone mad. My husband works in Sweden and comes home once a month. He usually takes bits and bobs back with him and since we got the girls he's taken eggs back with him as they are obviously superior to anything he could buy! This morning, we were up at 4 to get him down for the early flight. He had ten eggs, lovingly laid by our girls. The man at security stopped him - he took the eggs out and asked if they were fresh or hard boiled. Guy said they were fresh. He told him he couldn't take them on the 'plane because they had liquid in and he could have injected them with explosives or something.....Guy thought they were joking, until he realised they weren't. He asked to see a supervisor who came over and seemed a bit embarassed by it all - he said "rules is rules" or whatever they come out with and said he couldn't take them through. This is the best bit - he told him that if he decanted the eggs into 100ml bottles he could take them through. Like I said, the World had gone mad! I won't be telling my girls that their eggs will be going to waste, they would not be happy....
Egluntyne
I didn't think you could export eggs.....on the list of forbidden items etc......but as if you would use them as a bomb Far too unstable and likely to shatter before you had time to leg it! You couldn't make it up!
Couperman
He was obviously and Eggsplosives eggspert. How stupid, I mean how are you supposed to set these dangerous shells off, with an egg timer detonator perhaps! Anyway he should have known that Omleteer eggs are not viable as an explosive as they take far too long to go off! Good to see how tight security is these days! Kev. Christian
Very good Kev! How are you supposed to drain the contents of the egg and fill it with explosives?? Without cracking the shell????
Guest
Did the security guy confiscate them? I bet he just fancied some poached eggs for is breakfast.....
Omletina Kyckling
..........that's the worst thing. Guy actually said in the end "well at least make sure somebody eats them so our chickens didn't lay them for nothing" and they said they had to destroy them - the bloke then tipped them into a bin and gave Guy the egg boxes back!! Ain't Nobody Here
At least he didn't take them out into the carpark and do a controlled explosion . What a waste .
hillfamily
Very good Kev! How are you supposed to drain the contents of the egg and fill it with explosives?? Without cracking the shell???? aha - this has the beginnings of a science research project You wouldn't believe it unless you actually knew someone it had happened to. Lets hope security is as tight when someone actually tries to smuggle on a bomb
ubereglu
Now that is stupid. I think that you should have found a way to cook some of them and show that they hadn't been tampered with by eating the final product. Of course the guy could choose the eggs, that way he wouldn't know which ones had been tampered with if they had been at all. It really is ridiculous, aspecially as they had to go in the bin. I don't think they would delay take off so that someone could have a boiled egg and dippy soldiers!

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the captain speaking, we are sorry for the delay in take off, but there seems to be a problem with a passengers luggage, and aiport staff are currently testing to see if they are ok (off mic " oi bob, give us a bit of that egg!)"
