bellekatz
Can you fence it off so they can't fall in?
Chicken Licken
or net the top, the same way you would if you had toddlers!
chelsea
we have a large pond with a bridge over it. Im in my 2nd year of chicken keeping and luckily my hens have made no attempt to go near it or in the pond. We have a very short logroll border around the pond. I of course would advise to take precautions as no lot of chooks are the same - I just must have very wise chickens!!
Carol U
I too have a pond and my chooks all love it. It has no edging or fencing and they lean over and drink from it all the time without mishap.
gary&debbie&amy
i think i leave it as it is and see how they get on, if they start jumping on the side of the pond then i net the pond. thank you all.
Egluntyne
Someone...I can't remember who....had a chook drown in their pond. It might be worth fencing it off. You can use Omlet fencing or similar, that can be removed when not needed.

chickencam
We have a small pond with big rocks around it and the chooks have kept away thus far but we only let them out when we can keep an eye on them.
Tessa the Duchess
We have a pond in our garden, no fencing at all. So far they have ignored it and I have never seen them drink from it. I am hoping that when the frogs spawn in spring they don't regard it as a tasty treat and start eating it, I will have to keep a careful watch.
