CatsCube
Well today when I went out to ffed the chooks Buffie my Orp squatted at my feet, which she hasnt done before, her headgear is all red so I guess she is gearing up for egg laying. Not only that but I just opened the egg port to find Perdy my Leghorn sitting in there, so I may see an egg out of her today! Anyone elses purebreeds starting to get in the mood? Shirl
No such luck here. 7 hens and only 2 laying still. No signs of anyone else getting "in the mood".
feemcg
I had 8 eggs yesterday (9 one day last week). I've had 3 new 'crouchers' and 1 new layer this week - Rosie, my wee Gingernut that I hatched has started laying (and has a tiny comb and wattles!). Bonnie, Cream Legbar from the same hatch, has started crouching too
CatsCube
I know what you mean my calder ranger does have a red face and tiny pale comb and wattles, but lays everyday. Sure enough I have just collected a warm white egg curtosey of Perdy, weighing in at 55g, not bad for a first effort.
feemcg
I've got Exchequer Leggies in the incy - so that I can have a white egg layer (if I get a girl )
ali-s
I had 3 eggs yesterday Two of them were from unkown layers. All eight hens have red combs and wattles so they should soon be up to full production
ubereglu
Oooh, does that mean my Molly and Spice will lay soon too-they're pure breeds. Molly is crouching, but Spice isn't. They're now 30 and 32 weeks, so hopefully I'll perhaps be having 4 egg days by late March!
chelsea
my cochins are both now laying,....after a long wait they are now 10months old Star laid her 1st egg last saturday. Ella my hybrid hasnt laid since last September and even she is laying now so it must be this lovely weather.
Snowy
I've now got 9 out of 10 laying The only one not laying is my pure breed campine, Bella. Mind you, she did exceed expectations last year - she outlayed one of the gingernuts So I guess she deserves a longer break
Scooby
My two bigger girls are becoming quite red in the face and all I've done for the past week is keep checking the nest. Nothing yet though! I'm very excited as got them in Oct and they haven't laid yet
