The Dogmother
Wise old Olly owl is right Jue - I look back on things now and wonder how on earth I coped. It will all seem small in time; it tends to put perspective on things. Just remember to come on here and offload instead of getting worried. Joojoo
oh jojo you poor thing,, it will be OK, \\cin 2/3 is what is known as pre cancerous changes, it can take years for it to progress but a colposcopy will get rid of the cells that are causing the problem. it is like having a smear but a local is applied to the cervix & a laser used to remove the cells at the entrance to the womb. It sounds scary but not too bad really, you will need smears every year for a while. Changes at the neck of the womb are normally caused by HPV virus, there is a new vaccine for young girls that are not sexually active yet to protect them but it is not yet part of the national program as far a s I know, some religious groups are objecting because they think that it will encourage promiscuity!!!! On the man front I sympathise, once you are in better health & frame of mind I'm sure you'll sort things out. Rant to us anytime you like. Thanks Anne this forum really is absolutely amazing for information and advice. I really appreciate everyones support. I'm sure that once it's all sorted I will look back and wonder what I was getting so worked up about. Unfortunately, sometimes things have a knack of creeping up on and you catching you off guard - which is what happened today. I'd been waiting nervously for the results for a few weeks so when the Doctor said everything was fine I was just so relieved, but then it consequently knocked the stuffing out of me when I heard the message. I'll let you all know how it goes as soon as I hear anymore. Thanks again and loads of love - you are all fab
Lesley
Apart from the endoscopy and the non-committment from a partner, I've been through all that and in the same order - that brought back a lot of memories....... PMing you as well Jue.

Tiggy
Hi jojo, I hope you are having a better day, I've just had a look at your post again - stomach ulcers are often linked with a H pylori infection that that can be irradicated by a course of 2 antibiotics & tabs to reduce stomach aid, in some areas the test for this is done with a blood test others with a poo sample (not nice but less painfull), have you had any of these done? the skintag things around you face could be due to your thyroid prob but can be associated with diabetes (I dont want to wory you any more ) but underactive thyroid is a metabolic disorder & can go hand in hand with diabetes so its worth getting your blood sugar checked also your cholesterol. If you have a good GP or practice nurse they should be doing this for you anyway, but if not it is worth asking about. These conditions can make you feel tired generally under the weather & are both treatable so you feel human again.
chickencam
Sending you good wishes, hopefully the only way is up. You made me feel better about being told I have an underactive thyroid today. It is great to have this forum to share your worries and stress with, hope you are feeling better soon. I have had a couple of stomach ulcers over the years the first when I was only 19 and had just left home I am now on a proton pump inhibitor which keeps excess stomach acid under control and I am hoping that having my thyroid treatment with further help to sort out my insides. Joojoo
Hi Everyone Thanks for all the advice and support - I genuinely do appreciate it. Still feeling pretty rough - ended up in floods of tears at work (which I hate) after ringing the hospital this morning and have now got a cracking headache. They have given me an appointment on 14th March but have said that I could have a general anaesthetic if I'm worried about it which would be a couple of weeks later so I'm going to think about it. The treatment is a local anaesthetic followed by some procedure to freeze the cells - I'm not entirely sure what this procedure involves, but at least it will get rid of the dodgy cells. These conditions can make you feel tired generally under the weather & are both treatable so you feel human again. Re the stomach ulcer I had an endoscopy about 5 years ago and have been taking varying doses of omeprazole every day ever since. I don't recall ever having antibiotics for it or being tested to see whether it was an infection. It got worse last summer and then calmed down again, only to flare up badly after Christmas. The skin tags aren't really skin tags as such. They are like very hard lumps just under the skin that never completely go. Every couple of months they flare up and look like giant bright red spots which last 2 weeks or so and are very sore, then they go down again. Most of the time they just look like a rash along my jaw line. The doctor called them something beginning with "H" but it was unpronounceable and I can't remember for the life of me what it is. She said that they are basically like cysts and are very difficult to treat - I had a 3 month course of anti-biotics last summer to try and shift them but they are still there. Occasionally they come up on the back of my ears and on my scalp too. I've recently had a full blood test for dianetes, thyroid, kidney & liver function and blood count. It all came back fine. As for cholesterol, mine hasn't been check for about 9 months but it was 6.7 last time which is a lot higher than it should be for someone of 38 (going on 70) !!! As for feeling human again I don't think I ever did to start with When my time is up I'm definitely coming back as a cat
