Snowy
My goodness, I've just been shaken about!! The whole house shook and shuddered. All quiet now but gosh my heart is racing! That was SOOOO scary
lizinsa
I've just felt it too, thought I was going mad! I'm a bit concerned that my survival instinct didn't set in, think I should have sheltered under a table rather than just staying in bed
Tina C
Thank goodness I am not the only one who felt it. There was a big crack and the whole house seemed to sway. I am still up working!
Tiggy
I didn't feel anything here, but we had one a few years ago I thought it was a big lorry going past at the time, we got huge cracks in our ceilings were the house was shaken about
Egluntyne
We felt it! The earth definitely moved at Egluntine Towers! At 1am ish. It lasted for about half a minute and was quite alarming and very loud. Have just had a look at the news and it was a 5.3 on the Richter Scale which is massive for the UK and the epicentre was in Grimsby of all places. I remember the last one. a few years ago....which was a 4....and lots of our leaded lights cracked. Must go and have a look later when I've had me cup of tea. Lesley
I heard it - hadn't long gone to bed........... I told Carl but he just said "Oh" and turned over. Jazz had been barking on and off for ages......... I thought I'd imagined it when I woke up, but I knew I'd find the answer here! It wasn't far from Kate - I wonder how she is this morning? I was in Anglesey at the time of the last big one, 24 years ago - 5.4, just off the coast and really heavy furniture moved right across the floor - my son slept through that one, in the top bunk of bunk beds
Mrs Frugal
We felt it . My goodness that was scary !! I woke with a start and the house was vibrating as if a train was going by. The radiator in our bedroom was clanging against the wall . No damage but it was certainly noisy!! Ollie slept through it .
Snowy
Good morning all! I've recovered my composure this morning, it's very strange when it first happens - you immediately want confirmation of what you felt! I was watching TV and as Kate said, the whole house was shaking, the dog running round barking. Even OH woke up! Completely unheard of! Phew - very, very scary though Hope everyone is OK and no one suffered any injuries or structural damage!
Egluntyne
Forgot to say in my earlier post....the birds started tweeting for about 10 mins immediately after the quake. They must have felt it too! I hope you are all OK and damage free this am.

Seems it was the biggest UK one for 25 years.

Goosey Lucy
I felt it here too, checked the clock, it was 12:58 am. Very scary to wake up from a deep sleep to find the house shaking and the wardrobe door clattering. Both kids slept thro it. OH not here at the moment, he didn't feel it in Wales. Took me ages to go back to sleep, kept hearing creaks. No damage to report this morning, thank goodness.
Eyren
Definitely felt it here - much bigger than the swarm we had here a few years back - seemed to go on for a long time Woke everyone up except DS who sleeps through everything! Seems it was the biggest UK one for 25 years. Dang - and I slept right through it! OH is away in Scotland, so all the cats are sleeping on the bed with me, and since they are often fidgety in the night, I tend to ignore most disturbances

Guest
our house felt like it was being rocked back and forward for about 20 seconds or so, might have been less time than that but I was shocked so hard to tell. It was about 1am. Very scary! I just lay there, in shock. I should have jumped up and stood in a doorway or something but I just froze, couldn't quite believe what I was feeling. I was at work in Manchester a few years ago (during that swarm of quakes) when I felt what I thought was someone bumping into my desk and I turned round to tell them off and everyone was saying "what was that?" but this was much worse. feemcg
I went to bed early (for me, usually don't go till 1) last night (back of 11) and thought this is a waste of time as I'll be back up in a couple of hours. Sure enough I woke up at 12.55 - strange, wonder if anyone in Scotland felt it? Glad everyones ok (experienced an earthquake on my honeymoon in Zante, the tables in the restaurant were jumping all over the place, and the lights swinging - a bad omen ).
