Olly
Same here Fee. My Dad leaves a gap that can never be filled, and never a day goes past when I don't think about him. I am glad I am not the only one - I think of my mum every day, but I sometimes feel a bit daft saying that. My brothers don't do 'feelings' but I know my sisters feel the same as me. It is five years since both my parents died and I still miss them a lot, although as time passes I reflect more on the happy times and have managed to let go of the bad times surrounding their illness and death. However, don't feel bad clucky1 - I loved my mum dearly and miss her loads, but she could drive me bonkers within five minutes. It's easy in retrospect to forget the irritating little habits and sayings! If she were still alive, I'm sure I'd be having the occasional moan on here. I wish. Tessa the Duchess
Another orphan here My mum died about 5 years ago, she was 98 I was so looking forward to her getting her message from Her Maj. but she never made it I think of my mum every day too, I still use a lot of her kitchen utensils and they remind me of her. Weirdly the longer she is gone the more I miss her. Tessa
chickencam
I have a strange and sometimes strained relationship with my parents, but my dad has nearly died twice in the last couple of years and my mum was recently diagnosed with seriously high blood pressure and there is nothing like thinking that you might lose them to make you take stock. They are only in their mid 60's My parents stopped talking to my dads parents years ago and they didn't go to my grans funeral. I live much closer to my grandad and feel that I have to fill the gap left by his son. My mums parents both died when I was a baby. I will hate it if my children lose or cut contact with me, we are pretty close at the moment but who knows

theherd123
Families are so complex aren't they....and no two are the same. As my mum always says...'if we were all the same the world would be a boring place' It must be said my mum does drive me potty at times but i love her dearly and know she only says the stuff she does because she cares and im glad she gives a damn as some mothers dont. My mum & dad unexpectedly turned up last weekend as i havent been on top form just because they wanted to check i was ok. A 300 round mile trip when i was only on the phone to her earlier that day! The Dogmother
Aww, bless them, that was lovely Em. I love my folks, but am glad that they live an hour and a half away; my mother means well, but drives everyone beserk, including poor old Pops, who just gets on with stuff and stays out of her way. My Ex's family were very weird (say no more) and he doesn't see either parent any more, but Rosie is very fond of Phil's folks, and they of her, so the lucky girl still sort of gets two sets of grandparents. Krysia
My parents still treat me like a child and if we go away (anywhere in the world) we have to call them to let them know we arrived safely. I am 30 in a few weeks Paul is almost 40 and we have been parents for 17months now. I am told though that we will be just as bad with Ash when he grows up! Having said all that they babysit for free all the time (even if its just for an hour when paul is away so can clean the chooks) or withing 24 hrs notice of the weekend, We coudln;t cope without them (Paul parents both passed away before we got married, Inever met his mum) so we rely heavily on my folks. baby bears mum
No older than I did when I was about 17 (bit worrying really considering I have an 11 year old daughter, am qualified in Early Years Care and Education and help run my husband's electrical contracting business). Still never mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One Man Banned
My mum has the annoying habit of referring to me as "the baby" when I'm at her house and a friend I've not met drops by Nice thought maybe, but I am 27, and pampers aren't really my style....
