kazaddress
Just thought i would share my short story... I now get everything I need from the local organic shop (they deliver it). my food bill has quatered. and i am now only paying around £35 a week for all my shopping (including toileterys / house cleaning products / food / drink. that feeds me.. my boyf. and we have friends over most evenings aswell for dinner. i have stopped having meat every day, and instead have a few nice peaces a week.. (today cottage pie, and tomorrow lamb chops). I have found that doing all my shopping online, has meant that i am not tempted by things I do not need, and has also helped my waistline (as im not snacking on things i thought i "might" like). 1 more tip.. i have been planning my meals the week in advance, which means i am never tempted by takeaway when i think there is nothing in the cupboards... as i know exactly whats for dinner and lunch. (I email my mealplans out to around 90 people each week). hope this helps some people if your thinking of switching to organic, but think its too pricy! feel free to ask questions. Cinnamon
What a great idea, getting everything delivered from one place! I have written my mealplans out a week in advance for years now,but there is always room for a takeaway I am afraid Just now I had to put a pack of lamb mince in the freezer as I have run out of the couscous I need to cook it with So its a chinese for us tomorrow - we will have to spicy lamb meatballs & yogurt mint couscous on Monday instead Do you cats eat Organic too? chocchick
How did you find the shop Sounds good but don't know if there is one near me. There is a veggie shop that delivers but we're out of its delivery range.

kazaddress
oh I have some lovely recipes for lamb mince! apart from the obvious shephards pie, moussakka and minted lamb burgers. I my favourate dish in the whole world is lamb rosini! its a lebonese dish that my step mother taught me! so simple... so quick.. and tastes amaizing! 2-4 cups of lamb mince 2 cups rice (any kind) 2 cups of twisty pasta 1 can of chickpeas (drained) 1 onion 2 lamb stock cubes 2tsp cinnamon 1 tsp cumin splash of oil! fry onio
kazaddress
reason food bill has 1/4'rd is because im not browsing the isles going oh.. that looks nice.. and hmm.. that reduced what a bargain! i used to spend at least £30-£50 everytime i visited the supermarket! so yes the individual items are more pricey.. but i spend much less over all! Sheilaz
I like the look of that recipe, Kaz. Do you just bung it all in together when cooked/cooking, or are the rice/pasta served seperately? Should there be some liquid somewhere? I'd like to give it a go as I am sourcing good lamb, and can adapt to vegemince for Charlot.
kazaddress
hmm.. not all the recipe came out did it! lol ok.. try again! only takes 25 mins from start to end... and you only need 1 pan! 2-4 cups of lamb mince 2 cups rice (any kind) 2 cups of twisty pasta 1 can of chickpeas (drained) 1 onion 2 lamb stock cubes 2tsp cinnamon (heaped) 1 tsp cumin (heaped) splash of oil! fry onion and mince for a few minuits.. then add the rice, stir a few times then add the pasta and chickpeas... fry for about 2 mins then add the stock cubes, spices and enough boiling water to cover everything by about an inch. cover the pan tightly and simmer very gently for 10 minuits (dont stir)...after 10mins turn the heat off, and leave for another 10 mins (still leaving lid on). then serve ... i sprinkle flaked almonds and fresh parsley on top
