Tessa the Duchess
Is it just me, or do other Archer's fans think that, of late, its very aggressive and confrontational. There always seems to be somebody having a row with somebody else, or somebody screaming at someone else It's really making for unpleasant listening. I suspect they have a new set of writers who are all a bit mad Tessa
Popcorn
Probably taken on a few of the script writers from Eastenders. Always agro there!

Olly
What do you mean, 'script writer'? You'll be telling me they're just actors next! I had to turn it off last week, I couldn't stand listening to Brenda and Roy screaming at each other, but then I have a real problem with people shouting and arguing, and often turn the TV off if it's something like that. It's definitely not what I expect from the good folk of Ambridge! And not why I listen - The Archers has never shied away from tackling difficult subjects or real-life situations, but I don't enjoy listening to shouting-matches. Hopefully things will soon return to the normal everyday routine of infidelity and adultery.
chickencam
I'm really worried about what they are going to make of the George and Nick story. It is not the light alternative to tv soaps it once was
Olly
hmm, in fairness there have always been some 'heavy' storylines. Remember the business with Elizabeth and Cameron Frazer? The infamous triangle between Shula, 'Dr Death' Richard and Alistair? Then there was Jack Archer's alcoholism ... Grace dying in the stable fire ... there's even been a murder, or at least an accidental shooting, way back. And there's been bankruptcy, suicide, redundancy - you have to feel sorry for the inhabitants of Ambridge. As long as it's well-balanced with a bit of Lilian Archer and the Grundys, I don't mind! TrishY
I think the jennifer/brian divorce if it happens could be interesting, i'm enjoying the digester storyline too as we have been learning about them at uni
WitchHazel
I think the jennifer/brian divorce if it happens could be interesting, i'm enjoying the digester storyline too as we have been learning about them at uni I can't se that Debbie and Adam will be better off if Jennifer divorces Brian. At the moment they will inherit 1/3rd; if Jenny divorces Brian I would expect them to only get 1/2 each of jenny's 1/2, i.e 1/4.

Egluntyne
I used to always listen to the Omnibus.....Every Sunday morning whilst doing my ironing....I could never get away from the feeling that it always sounded like a group of not very good actors (Tamsin Grieg excepted) standing round a mike with a script in their hand, and a sound effects chap working his socks off in the corner with two coconut halves, a tray of gravel and a creaking hinge or two. I just lost interest. Edited March 16, 2008 by Guest
MedusA
I have religiously listened to The Archers for the last 20-odd years. In my defence, it is my only soap! I do find one or two of the actors annoying (Jill especially), but couldn't do without my daily "fix". I love Nigel and his wacky green ideas. A weirdo after my own heart! As a lifetime Dr. Who fan too, I have to admit that I never twigged that Terry Molloy was also Davros!
Olly
I The Archers, it's my little treat on a Sunday morning while ironing/cooking/etc. and yes, I do know it's not real - but it can make me laugh, frown or even make me cry sometimes. It's been part of my life almost all my life. I think because it's radio and not TV you can picture the characters as they are - occasionally I see a photo of someone alleged to be a member of the cast, like the one above, but I try to disregard them. Same thing when Tamsin Greig (and others) pop up on TV - you know the voice, but it doesn't look like the character you are familiar with. Long may it go on - Sundays without a trip to Ambridge wouldn't be the same!
chickencam
I have listened to the Archers for most of my life, had a little break when i first left home and a few times since I have lost interest but now Oh is really into it too. We usually listen 'on demand' on OH's new internet radio when we go to bed. I once got Eddie Grundy's autograph at an open air summer concert where a few of the cast did a little scene, from memory it was Cathy Perks, Eddie and there my memory fails me about 4 characters I think. He was very friendly. I don't do celebrity as a rule but I have listened for so long and it was Eddie Grundy
