alih
did anyone else cry? I too wept buckets at the end of Torchwood and sniffed my way through last night's episode- my husband despairs, though it is the one programme all 6 of us ( kids 5- 14) watch avidly. RTD is a genius. He doesn't keep chickens by the way, but he knows someone who does! I was mightily cheered afterwards by my 7-year-old niece's suggestion (totally without prompt or bribe) that I should be the next assistant - if only Jim'll Fix It was still on, I'd be writing right now! Cinnamon
I must admit that it lost me a bit, but was a perfevtly pleasant way to spend some time on a Saturday evening anyhow. I like the Torchwood link, & that Jack has his 2 new team members,it would seem TBH I wouldn't have minded a new Doctor. DT doesn't do it for me looks wise - hes a bit geeky & skinny for my tastes *ducks behind the sofa* Now Chris Ecclestone.....thats a different matter
Ziggy
TBH I wouldn't have minded a new Doctor. DT doesn't do it for me looks wise - hes a bit geeky & skinny for my tastes *ducks behind the sofa* Now Chris Ecclestone.....thats a different matter Despite being a total DT convert, I must admit that was my first thought too when he very first appeared on the screen at the end of the Eccleston series... I thought he looked skinny, ugly, like he had just put his fingers in a power socket (ok, maybe regenerating is meant to be a rough experience), and the way he felt his 'new teeth' was terribly offputting... I told OH there was no way I was watching the next series if 'that thing' was replacing 'my' doctor... Didn't take me long, once his series started, to change my mind... Quite like everything about him now
Valkyrie
Ken Bruce on Radio 2 was laughing at the 2,500 people who called Dr Who's phone number. Sad to say OH was one - he thought it might have a funny message.
chickencam
I thought the episode was excellent, it tied up loads of loose ends. I liked the reference to Gwen's family back in the 1800's, with a bit of prodding the children eventually remembered which episode it refered too. Was it the same actress? Not so sure about leaving Rose with his mortal self though bit wierd that All of the recent series have been top notch Saturday night family viewing and there isn't a lot of that about these days. Mutrix Farmers
did anyone else cry? Me!! It was Grandad at the end that had me going, he'd make a brilliant companion (obviously lacking in the eye candy stakes for the men out there) Son is in France so we have taped it for him (aren't we lovely parents!!) Not sure about Martha in Torchwood as I didn't take to her in Dr Who. will give it a go though as I like Mickey!

chickencam
I think that Martha will make a great addition to Torchwood they do need a new medic after all, not sure how she will get on with Gwen though Mickey with be interesting not really upto the intellect of Tosh but we'll see. Yes- it was after RTD saw Eva Myles in the Charles Dickens episode that he offered her the job in Torchwood. ( Can I just brag here that I have a torchwood book dedicated to me by Eva and gareth David LLoyd ( Ianto) that my sister got me for my birthday!! brag, brag) And yes I cried at Bernard Cribbins at the end too - he is a fantastic old actor - one of the stars of this series if you ask me

I think Bernard Cribbens should be the companion too Actually I think a chicken would make a grand companion. Couldn't you just imagine a chicken flapping round the TARDIS every time it was being flung round and the Dr was manically running round.... I don't like Martha. I liked this series in general, but can't wait to get rid of RTD as his episodes are really dull and SM is fantastic. I tried to remember what had happened in the penultimate episode and ended up watching it again. It was miles better than the last series ending. "If everyone says Dr together" cringes

I am embarassed to admit I cried when I thought he might be regenerating and it wouldn't be him any more. He is my absolute favourite ever of all the Doctors. It was so sad when he had to let the "other" Doctor get to be with Rose in the alternate universe. I enjoyed the finale very much, but it upset me to see all those exploding Daleks. I have a bit of a soft spot for them. Looking forward to the Specials.
Seagazer
We were out at a bbq so had sky+ it and daughter rang to say that she had spent the evening crying as she had watched it and the finale of House. Must admit I didn't cry at Dr Who (glad DT still in it) but I did at House. I'm happy Rose has a 'doctor' with her, ties up that loose end. I don't have a job at the moment and I'm quite willing to travel a bit.
Richard T
It was Grandad at the end that had me going, he'd make a brilliant companion I think Bernard Cribbens should be the companion too "Akshully (writes our film trivia correspondent, Nora Laura P Pull-Novat) Bernard Cribbins was a companion in one of the two Dr Who feature films made in the 1960s. Peter Cushing played the Doctor."
