Goood Morning,

Yipeeeeeee, we have our first ever egg from Medusa ,

Its ridiculous but i am so thrilled - she's such a clever clever girlie . . well thats what i've just told her & gave her a little treat first before all other gannets joined in :)

She crouched yesterday as hubby was out enticing them home, or rather checking to see if they were okay, as they'd disappeared into the bushes of our neighbours garden .. ahem . .. anyway they all enthusiastically ran over to him then Medusa promptly crouched, obligingly he gave her a lovely tickling stroke - he was so amused . lovely broad grin on his little face .. . i was watching from the kitchen window... unfortunately he isn't home, he'll be so delighted even though he pretends they're 'just chickens'!!! Our daughter found it, she was so excited too & so proud as it was her chicken!!! But i've left it in the nesting box so hubby can have the same thrill :) Its a little brown egg . ..so perfect & lovely.

Just thought i'd share with those who have been supporting & sharing our journey into chicken keeping :)

Well done Shirley!!!! :P:P:P

Let me tell you, you NEVER get over the thrill :D

Last week I was out all morning and when I got back there were 3 eggs in the nest 8) How brilliant was that, now I wait till lunch time to collect 3 at once!!!

Next best thrill is the first double yolker

Actually all my 3 girls wanted to lay at once this morning, they were all crammed into the next together  goodness knows what I'll find when I go collecting

tee hee still tickled, yes its the small wondrous miracles enjoyed in many moments each day which always bring me the biggest pleasure. The joy, newness in each moment to be found. Truly blessed.

As for eating the egg . ..well i guess it'll probably be a 3 way pleasure, all have a dip of the yolk then cut the white 3 ways :)

Its so perfect .. . bless the process of life & creation in all its wonderment

Hellooooo All,

Thank you all for your kindness & enthusiasm :) Its such a joy and i am still in awe :)

Yipee . . Medusa has laid another egg today, they're just perfect , hubby has eaten both of them . ..one fried yesterday & one softly boiled today .. hmmm he was a little disappointed . naughty man !!!!! .. he thought the flavour would be soo much nicer as they're soo fresh, especially todays as it was warm when i removed it from the nesting bit as i saw her come out :) I think they're perfect, we've always bought free range eggs so maybe we won't notice the difference other than the colour & texture of the yolks.

However he still went out & found Medusa & thanked her & tickled her back again :)

telling the rest of the girlies to get on with their laying :)

Ah BarbaraJ, hang on in there, wont be long .. .i only had mine 2 days before yours . .. so maybe another coule of days & you'll be smiling too. Alternatively, i have 5 chickens who aren't laying :)

how red are their bits, as Medusas really are red . .next i think will be a close call as they're all maturing beautifully.

Thank you all, i am still soo excited & waiting in anticipation to see if its 3 days in a row. Our daughter waited til 1pm to have her cooked breakfast hoping she could have her chooks egg :) Bless she had all trimming without the egg.

Maybe Medusa's saving herself until the rain stops & will lay in time for the yorkshire puds ! :)
