Mrs Frugal
Oh Sonja! Don't worry!! Have you tried onion skins as natural colouring? They work really well, especially if you wrap the eggs in them. Try this page for ideas - Natural dyes

Lesley
I haven't dyed eggs for years We don't need to dye ours as they come in a variety of colours anyway. I usually do an Easter Egg hunt for Lauren and Jake after we get back from Church. Clues and hidden mini eggs and mini books - they end up with 12 each and the little books together tell the Easter story. This year I've got them a rabbit shaped bath bomb from Lush - which i will hide somewhere - we thought it would be at the farm but it won't be - they know all my hiding places here We can't face cooking at lunchtime on Sunday as we would usually do as we will probably still be waiting to see what happens with the farm and our nerves are shot so we will go walking on the local hills and then come back for Coffee and Cake and the Egg Hunt. Swiss Chick
Good easter story would be welcome as well. Strange I thought people would leap to tell tales about hiding eggs and so on but nope... what is going on am I the only one being eggcited about it all? Although I have to say weatherforcasts here have predicted cold and wet weather so will be challenge to hide the eggs in the garden. Must have wellies and woollies alike

Swiss Chick
Lesley, What easter story do you mean. The religious one or the one with the rabbits hiding the eggs? In England does the rabbit hide the eggs....?

motherhen
I'm saving up Mabels little 44g blue eggs to do an Easter egg hunt for my 3 year old niece when we see her on Easter Monday I'm not doing Guides at the moment, but we always used to have an egg decorating contest at Easter - I suspect they were so keen to do it every year because the winning Patrol got chocolate eggs (well they all got some but the winners got the most )

Swiss Chick
I'm saving up Mabels little 44g blue eggs to do an Easter egg hunt so you must know how long to cook a small egg then.......pleeease
Martin B
Is it more or less time than the standard egg?
Swiss Chick
Well Martin that iiiis the big question. I have heard less but some say more so would like an eggspert's view on that. Shall we bet? Can one "overhardboil" an egg at all?
Martin B
I think it will be less time, it would seem logical. But honestly don't have a clue!
motherhen
so you must know how long to cook a small egg then.......pleeease Her eggs have such a thick heavy shell that the size is even smaller than you'd think for 44g. So I'll be putting them out uncooked so niece can eat them soft boiled later They would be perfect eggs to use for one of those 'egg throwing' competitions. I do large eggs for 11 mins to hard boil and tend just to leave the small ones in for that time and they are fine. But I would guess at about 8 mins for a bantie egg.
