Cinnamon
I hate this weather when you don't know if you should hang the washing on the line or not I see a glimmer of sun ,grab the pegs, but by the time I get out there its clouding up again. WHY has no one invented a big old umbrella type thingy for rotary lines which automatically pops open at the first sign of rain?
hillfamily
That would be a good idea.........
Lesley
Somebody on Dragon's Den did - I think they couldn't see the point of it??
Cinnamon
They probably have someone to bring their washing back in for them every 10 minutes
ajm200
They probably send it all out somewhere dirty and it comes back washed, ironed, hanging neatly under plastic wrap.
Tessa the Duchess
They probably throw their clothes in the bin at the end of the day and wear brand new ones next day Tessa
Cinnamon
Then their clothes will never have that 'been on the line' smell, & in my opinion they are really missing out
Helly Welly
I want weather forecasters to let you know whether its worth putting out the washing or not. If in doubt i don't put it out.
bronze
I just put mine out and leave it if it rains (only because I never normally notice in time)
Tina C
Same here Bron. I have had 2 things on the line for 2 days now - keep forgetting about them because they are hidden behind a shrub.
Egluntyne
Websites like **Metcheck** are quite useful. I always check online before I hang washing out.
Cinnamon
Ooooo, that IS good Egluntine. It looks like I have until 12.59 to get my washing dry
Egluntyne
Better set the kitchen timer then!
Tessa the Duchess
That is a very useful weather site, thanks. I always check the Met Office forecast at night, but honestly you can't rely on it, mostly the whole thing has completely changed by the next morning Tessa
Lisastyal
I'm washing all my baby clothes (due in 5 wks!!) and I'm putting them out so I hope the rain holds off! Now I've said that it will definately rain!
Egluntyne
Oooh....another Omlet baby. How lovely.
chickencam
I'm already obsessed with weather forecasts, I check both the BBC and the Met.office every morning even before I come on here. I don't like their forecast for Monday the BBC are forecasting full sun and 17 degrees whereas metcheck showed rain most of the day Good luck with the baby clothes Lisastyal
Laura & CTB
I dont check the weather forecast - been disapointed too many times before when they've said it's going to be sunny and it turns out not to be I'd rather have a nice surprise (or not as the case may be ) Oh and I dont have a washing line
Tessa the Duchess
Oh and I dont have a washing line Why? Choice or necessity? Tessa
crazygal
I've put out the washing here as it was glorious sunshine at 9 this morning, so far its been rained on three times and hailed on once. I always think oh it may clear up later.
jomaxsmith
The 'Economy' cycles on my machine take over 2 hours - I can guarantee that if it looks like a good day to dry washing, within 2 hours it will be raining! I'm hoping the rain stays away today because my boys' school have a May Day celebration this afternoon with performances and cake and plant stalls - if it rains they'll have to cancel Jo
ajm200
Hung my washing out an hour ago as it's been really sunny here... it is now tipping with rain out of a bright blue sky... Of course the start of it coincided with me being upstairs changing my son's nappy... Ok... back in the machine then....
Olly
I am generally not too fussy about hygiene, apart from in the kitchen - but if washing gets rained on, I have to wash it again. I had a friend who used to say 'Ooh, can't get anything dry, it's been out there all week and every time it dries, then it gets rained on again so I'm leaving it out there' and this used to make my toes curl! Not sure why, it's probably reading about acid rain and pollution at an early age! I'm not talking about a few spots of rain, but if it got properly soaked I couldn't bear to just let it dry out again.
