Hellcat
thank you for moderating me. I humbly submit myself to your ministrations and will do penance tomorrow by taking the kids out to buy new shoes Don't mention it. But buying shoes is never penance ! (See if you can slip a pair in for yourself while no one is looking ) In Clarks? I doubt it! (Maybe a summer bag, though. And Monsoons just down the street....) Hope you don't mind, but I have split this from another topic as it was, er, um, off topic! Sheila

Hellcat
Had to turn my back on a goreous Radley the other day - just too expensive! Treated myself to a funky little Kipling instead, at half the price!

Sheilaz
I was quite lost doing it! Did you think you'd dreamt the chat about bags? Hope you didn't mind, but I thought this topic could be fun, and it pulled the other one back on track. Did you bring me a cuppa? (Still on topic )

Chicken on a mission
I only started carrying a handbag a couple of years ago after my daughter got potty trained. Now I have to carry wipes around with me and I started carrying a mobile phone I have no choice I have just bought a second bag because my forst one fell to bits and because I don't like having a handbag it has to have a long enought strap to go diagonally across me so I don't actually have to carry it. Sheilaz
" I wasn't nagging...I was just asking....again!" Yes, very familiar I tend to go for the functional bag, like COAM, & haven't ever had one as an accessory, although I think other people's look lovely. I tend to take a shopping bag (one step up from a carrier bag) into town with me. I just wish I'd remember not to hook it over my forearm (like the Queen's handbag) as it makes me look incredibly sad (yes, it's been pointed out to me ) I did use a rucksack for a while. Very practical, but I didn't look far off being an overloaded mule on the way back from market.

Karen & co.
I tend to go for the functional approach too and rarely change from one to another, cos I'd forget I'd done it and go out with an empty bag!!! I recently decided I could manage with one small enough for a purse cards and mobile and not a lot else, so now it's bursting at the seams with extras I was only able to down size when the children got old enough to not need wipes and spare knickers carried everywhere (for them not me ) Karen x
Lesley-Jean
I have LOADS of bags, different sizes, colours, materials, short straps, long straps, no straps at all, casual ones, posh ones (and some I've never used). BLISS
Linda
Oh lucky you L-J! Personally I have a bit of a bag famine at the moment. I just stick to practical, but that means I never have a nice one for a change or going out.

Sheilaz
Except it's such a personal thing, isn't it? I wouldn't trust OH to buy a bag for me. Well, unless I wanted a fishing bag. I've just remembered, we were invited to "a bit of a do" one evening last year. I was dressed & ready to go & realised that I didn't have an evening bag. Or even a small handbag. Rucksack, fishing bag? But I needn't something for bits & pieces. So, dashed up the round to friend's house, she loves parties. Buit was at Sainsbury's and her OH looked horified. Happily, he got over the shock, phoned her mobile & came up with a choice of 3 dainty bags. Will def. get one in Oxfam next time they're on display, I felt such a twit asking at the last minute. Chicken on a mission
I have to say that chosing presents for me is one of my OH's strong points. He always seems to know what I want before I do and chooses what I would have chosen for myself even though we never really go browsing together. I'm a very lucky 'lady'
