Chicken Chat?!

Recommended Posts

Do you do this?! I do. I can't help it. When I'm in the garden I have a right little natter with my ladies. I tell them whats happening during the day, when they'll get their tea, etc, etc. A proper 'Shirley Valentine' excepet she talked to a microwave and she didn't have neighbours that heard her...!!

...my neighbours have caught me chatting to the girls and they think its so funny! I suppose it is really. Trouble is we only moved in three months ago so we're still trying to 'make a good impression'. My neighbour is lovely and we had a laugh at my 'chook conversations'. She reckons its quite sweet really! I got my own back when I relayed a conversation that she'd had with her cat. At least I don't use language like that to my girls! (her turn to go red).:oops:

So come on, 'fess up, who has a little natter with em now and again and what do you natter about??

Yep my neighbour has told my DH that he has heard me talking away to the chickens in the morning. Frightened him the other day though - he didn't realise that DH was off work that morning and was out in their run with me - he thought one of the chickens was talking back

I talk to the girls more than OH does. I actually ask them questions - like they are going to answer me  I'm convinced they recognise tone of voice too, when Charlotte jumps on the run for the umpeenth time just for attention, I talk to her crossly and she doesn't do it again. And they know their own names!

The men in white coats are at the door, but I've told the girls not to tell them where I am!

Ha ha, so glad I'm not the only one! I ALWAYS thank them for their eggs, and tell them how clever they are. Then when I eat their eggs I go back and report how delicious they were too. When my children and hubby are out and I have the garden to myself I get my chooks out and sit with them on my lap feeding them mealworms and telling them how beautiful they are. A few months ago I had never even seen a chicken up close and now look at me!

I go up the garden every morning and say 'Hello, ladies' but I'm afraid most of my conversation is scolding - 'leave poor Siggy alone, Yolko, she's done nothing to deserve that' or 'WILL you get off the potato patch at once, please' ....

I've always said that the only reason I keep a cat is so I don't talk to myself. I find him a very good companion, as he rarely answers back or interrupts.

I talk to all my girls, cats, chickens, and even my children sometimes

My OH also talks to them, usually questioning them on who hasn't laid that day etc.

I am an only child therefore I talk to myself more than I should  so pets make me look more sane  Having said that my son talks to himself a lot and he is one of 3. My OH complains that when we go swimming, DS sings and talks in the shower and whilst getting changed
