Hurrah! The chooks have just scoffed the last of the quinoa. It's been hanging around since my aborted detox attempt last year.

 

They've also polished off the Free From porridge, the corn and vegetable pasta and the mung beans (sprouted) so no more feeling guilty every time I open the cupboard

 

Wonder if Gillian McKeith would be interested in the contents of the poop tray

I have a box of quinoa (kennnnwaaaaah as my daft friend calls it) It is the vilest stuff on the planet, but cost a fortune.

 

It will be on the menu for the chooks tomorrow.

sounds awful this stuff. I have no idea what it is. If you can't pronouce it, it can't be good for you. Feed it to the chooks, and feel good about it. Excellent post. Made me laugh

my chickens eat gluten free crackers that have gone out of date and they polished off some brown rice I had sitting in the back of the cupboard that took so long to cook I gave up with it.

I really did laugh out loud! I can just imagine her pointy nose poised over the poop tray.

 

I have a bag of those tasteless dried red berries but they have so much vitamin C that I'm scared to eat them myself or try them on the hens. Has anyone given them a go?

Is that Goji berries? I bought a huge jar on special offer from Julian Graves and they are absolutely foul! I've been wondering if I could give them to the chooks if I soaked them?

 

Apparently they make you live for ever or something but eating such disgusting stuff it probably just feels like it

Quinoa is not actually that bad if you have it in a salad with pomegranate, diced sweet peppers, feta cheese, harissa paste and parsley, - but I wouldn't eat it on it's own.

I would imagine that would make anything taste yummy Personally I prefer cous cous (and it's cheaper...)

Quinoa sounded as Keenwa is really not bad if you cook it with some lemon/orange juice and salad - I quite liked it and so did the chooks as cooked too much.

 

Why do we buy so much rubbish really after seeing someone tell us its good for us though!

I bought some keeeeenwaaaaaaaa too after "Doctor" McKeith was on TV. It got chucked out eventually (this was BC - before chickens).

 

I did use her book though and lost loads of weight - have put it back on since plus more, naturally .
