Flaming June.

Recommended Posts

Apparently it was supposed to be showery here - it has been one constant deluge all day and still going strong. Son will be taken to work along the main road tonight - the other route will be flooded. He asked this morning if it will be nicer on Thursday as he is off to Thorpe Park for his birthday - we cackled and said probably not, as the forecast says showery for that day too.

Mum has told me that it is supposed to be nice at the end of June with July and August a washout. Hmmmm, glad we're not going anywhere this year.

Hurry up hens, there are too many slugs that need munching in my garden.

The forecast that I heard said that it would be rubbish all week. :(

I don't know where you heard that then? :shock: - it's supposed to dry up here shortly and then be a reasonable week :?

I think you might have it right Clare - the BBC changed its tune mid-morning :roll::evil: It has rained here all night and now all day..... and not dried up at all :evil:

:evil: Same here, a bit of dry weather on Sunday and we went to the garden centre and bought lots of nice plants to re-plant the beds (now that the girls have their enclosed run). Planted a few and then drizzled, rained, poured, deluged, and had every variety of 'water falling from the sky' that the lovely weather could create... I wish we could have done all the planting on Sunday... still, at least there's no need to water the little pots...

:roll:

I'm just hoping and praying that it will be fine on June 14th. It is Hubby's 60th birthday, and I am organising a special seceret(from him) birthday party with family, friends neighbours and work collegues. I have hired a cruiser for 4 hours in the evening which will take us around the Purbeck Islands. It would be so perfect if it were a warm balmy evening with a beautiful sunset. So please send positive thoughts our way. :D

Well, I waited for the ark to float past, but it didn't :roll: It has now stopped raining and we had a red sky about half an hour ago. My mother insists that it wil be lovely for the weekend; that may just be wishful thinking though as it's their 50th anniversary on Staurday and there's a big 'do' at their place.

It's still raining here but not heavy, it's been light rain on and off since I first posted this.

I did learn one thing amongst all this.

How to gain a 'Fine Tilth' required to get seeds to germinate properly as quoted in all gardening books I have ever read. None of them tell you 'exactly' how to achieve this.

I have been chop chop chop chop chopping at sun hardened crusty lumps for weeks!

Why couldn't they say, wait until it has rained for a bit? then the rake actually works and it is easy!

All seasoned gardeners and allotmenteers, after 3, laugh! 1.......,2...... :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Sorry Kev! ( :lol::lol::lol: ) - Sorry Snowy :(:lol:

.....but you'll have to blame Carl...... and Shona (Chookiehen)

Last May, Shona recommended a Barbecue cum Smoker.....we bought one, it was delivered and we brought it in to put it together.......

.....then the rain started.... and never stopped :shock:

On Saturday, the weather was nice.......Carl brought the Barbecue back in so that we could put it together........... :roll:

it's all his fault :evil:

It is here at the moment........... but if Carl so much as looks at that barbecue sitting in the conservatory............ :roll::wink:

Blindfold him now!!! :wink::lol::lol::lol:

It's OK - he's still hiding under the duvet, trying to avoid the day ahead :roll::wink: I'll keep him away from the conservatory and I'll take the barbecue back to the shed later....... :wink:
