Now that you kind people have helped me choose my chickens, what colour Eglu should I get? I'm thinking green is the most tactical, and also has the best re-sale value?

Hopefully in a year or so, we should be able to trade up to a Cube, so I've got to keep half an eye on what will sell well. My husband also wants it to be not too conspicuous so wants green. My daughter wants pink. I fancy purple.

Please help this indecisive family...

Green is indeed the most popular colour, but our Eggsperts assure me that chooks actually lay best in a Pink eglu! Our limited editions seem particularly good at holding their value, so I might suggest going for our current guest colour, a lovely shade of Lilac. :)

when we had the green and the orange eglu together the girls would always lay in the orange one!!

The orange one is quite light inside. We bought the purple cube because its darker inside and a darker cube = quieter hens in the summer months/light mornings. :D

I'm partial, of course, as it was my own choice, but... I think Lilac would be subtle enough for your husband's tastes and make the pink-loving girls still very happy (and it's still a shade of purple, to make you happy!). There're images in the Omlet shop of the lilac cube, but the only image I know of the lilac eglu is on ebay: here.

But I was told all you need do is call Omlet and they can arrange for one of the remaining lilac eglus for you.

As for resale value, I would think a rare or limited edition would always sell well, once they no longer stock that colour.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- men always want a green one, isnt it good we are here to put a bit of colour in their lives? I like every colour except green and pink, my new orange one is unbelievably gorgeous!

As for resale, I looked for a pre-loved eglu on e-bay but they were all green, which I definitely didn't want...

Whatever colour you choose just wait till you see the results when you coat the roosting bars in Plastidip, it gives it the final finishing touch and makes it easy to clean

It comes in several bright colours to match or contrast the Eglu. google plastidip for the website, its a type of coating that is safe to animals and everthing washes off easily
