At a few days old: Sonic trying to fly, at around a week old: At 2 weeks old: 3 weeks: Sonic starting to look a bit manly, notice the wattles and very feathery feet!:

The Dogmother
Aww, bless them! You have a Ruby! They can be OK in with a couple of hens, but not if you have a herd like I do Tracy
Ange1
Oh My Jules! TOO CUTE! They could live in the grub, they're so tiny! [Edited} in that first photo anyway!
superjules
soo cute - so they are in an Eglu? Is that two hens in with them? Tracy They were hatched in the eglu by Yum-yum our pekin and Bossy our SLW bantam, who are making very good surrogate mummies. I took out the eglu bars and filled it up with aubiose, which worked well. For the first few days they needed a little leg up into the eglu, but not for long. They are growing like weeds, bless them!! Clare, I'm now in no doubt that Sonic is a boy, the wattles started showing yesterday. There's a woman at school who lives round the corner from me has 2 cockerels so I'm just going to play it by ear really. If he becomes a problem he'll have to go, but I went into this with my eyes open and I know a member of the pekin club who can help either rehome him or (gulp!) make alternative arrangements!! Handsome though, isn't he!

superjules
The biggest change seems to have been in the past week. Lisa, pop in whenever you like, fancy a quick drink or two tonight if you're not busy? I've got leftover bolognaise on offer!!

superjules
Sonic is a couple of days older than Chubby. He hatched 2 days early, causing the broodies to abandon the nest on the 3rd day to look after him, leaving a cheeping egg, which nearly broke my heart as you can imagine. I kept it warm in a very intimate place while I tried to sort out a more suitable alternative but poor "bra-chick" didn't pip, unfortunately.
