236 OCU
Wildfowl (that's Swans,Geese and Ducks) once born take about 24 hours to dry out and are then capable of leaving the nest, swimming and feeding themselves. Their parents do not feed them, they only look after and protect them. Garden birds are born blind and without feathers, and are totally dependant upon their parents. Depending upon the species, it can take up to three months before they are capable of leaving the nest. With humans it is another matter. It can take 20 or 30 years before they leave the nest

Mrs Frugal
My BIL still lives at home and he's past 30 . The only reason I left home at 17 was because my parents were saving for a ladder and placing adverts for someone for me to elope with in the local newspaper. 236 OCU
I think I may have the answer - send the darlings on holiday - then move. It helps if you forget the change of address cards

The only reason I left home at 17 was because my parents were saving for a ladder and placing adverts for someone for me to elope with in the local newspaper. Kate We drove past a house the other day where one of Darren's old school friends lived. It reminded him of a funny story. Said friend got really drunk one night. When he returned home he realised he had forgotten his key and couldn't get in. He ended up breaking in through the back door. He helped himself to food out the fridge and passed out in a drunken stupor on the sofa. What the friend had forgotten, was that the family had sold up and moved a few weeks earlier! Imagine his horror when he woke up the next morning and realised he'd broken into his old house where he no longer lived!

Sheilaz
But really funny too, Gina! My worst similar situation story was a father of 2 who had done the same. The most accessible window was an upstairs one, slightly open, so he wouldn't disturb anyone. Except he fell & broke both legs. It was his wife I was sorry for! 30 isn't old to be in parental home, what does it matter what anyone else thinks? Depends on the family, it may be useful or infuriating! My nephew simply couldn't afford to move out until he was 30, but they all chugged along together ok. He only could move then with some help as a key worker, being a London ambulance driver, otherwise he'd still be there. Mind you, his sister moved away after Uni. only to return this year aged 30 when she changed jobs. My poor sister is finding that and I don't know how any of mine will be able to afford to move out permanently. Shep & I have discussed running away to a tiny cottage & leaving them all here! Popcorn
I quite like the idea of living like The Waltons! I miss my family with them being so far away, especially my Mum. Would love it if she could just pop in for a cuppa (or to do the ironing )
