.....and I wasn't expecting them till 1st July.

 

The porch door creaked open and a hand deposited the parcel just a few moments ago.

 

They look good, and more robust than I was expecting.

 

I shall put them in tomorrow.

Congrats Eglutine - I've just ordered some for my cube (and I'll say again - only a few weeks after I ordered an extra set of wooden ones)

 

I should be good and think of something to do with the old ones but the thought of getting them really clean just fills me with dread....

I never had the wooden ones, so can't really compare them, but they were ridiculously easy to clean when we did our first proper clean on Sunday. Hope you find the same

You could always wipe mud all over them and then clean them before you put them in, just for the experience!

Mine arrived yesterday too! Plan to put them in tomorrow when I do my big clean!

 

They look great and should be so easy to clean!..but not as pretty as my lovely pistachio green set made by another Omleteer's kind OH! Will keep these for putting in when I have guests!

They took me seconds to clean in a bucket of soapy water! No scrubbing,no soaking-very very easy!

I oredered mine Monday, they arrived Wednesday - now in a box in the garage, I am happy with the wooden ones for now - I really just got them for hen party use.

I have ordered mine today, due next Friday. I now have two sets of wooden ones, including one brand new set as I ordered an extra set with my cube which arrived an annoying week or two before they decided to do the plastic ones!! They will just sit in the garage and gather dust now!!

I've been delaying cleaning the cube in anticipation of having shiny new roosting bars to fit!

Thanks yes I will on Monday.. TBH think it may be a mixture of the postal service and how they were stored as crushed and cracked very badly.

Do you think I should get over my prejudice against anything but wood under my spoilt hens' feet and get some plastic bars for the Cube myself?

 

I would be grateful if anyone could tell me if there is a down side to plastic (e.g. young chicks slipping, lame hens falling over, poo getting in and staining the plastic). There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with them at all, even from the hens' point of view. Has anyone had hens who were shocked at the change, or don't they even notice?

 

And are the plastic bars set any closer together than the wooden ones? When my hens were pullets, they laid on the bars of the Cube, but the eggs were so small they dropped through the bars into the poo tray.
