Egluntyne
Definitely feel . My daughter got "dragged along" as she put it , to a Def Leppard (?sp) concert a few days ago. Her bass had a spare ticket and said "you're from Sheffield aren't you...get your glad rags on and join us. Posh box with food....the works. She had a great time....and I bet you will too. AMO
See you there - hubby got me tickets for my birthday, and I am really looking forward to it Mary We could have a mini Omlet meet but I don't know where we will be sitting
Cinnamon
I think she will be fab AMO She doesn't take herself too seriously, which I really like about her. I saw Tom Jones a few years ago, & was a bit about that, but he was amazing. Have seen Def leppard too, & they were great as well.

MedusA
My Mum is a huge Country fan. Even though she prefers "New" Country to old, she still likes Dolly. I'm sure it would be a great night out. Please don't be embarrassed. I took my Mum to the NIA to see Alison Krauss and Robert Plant recently (I'm a Zepp fan of many years standing), and I had a great time! poachedegg
I think that there are artists that you really like their songs and others who you wouldn't necessarily go out and buy but would be a great show to watch.........for me Dolly Parton would probably a good entertaining fun show - but I wouldn't buy her album in a million years

AMO
Have just got back in form the concert and had to post this before I went to bed. The concert was fab - she is such an entertainer and played so many instruments. She was on from 8pm-10.30pm with only a 15 minute break. She did a real rock version of the Fine Young Cannibals hit She drives me Crazy (she also played electric guitar like she was auditioning for Nickelback ) Thoroughly enjoyed the whole night and would go out and buy tickets to see her again! Scary Mary
I'm with you AMO, although I was a fan beforehand. My favorite number was the fantastic accapella number with the 10 men in her band - that was really something else! When she played 9 to 5, the whole place was dancing and singing - even your truely Were you in one of the boxes, or on the floor with the rest of us plebs? Seagazer
I'm glad you had a good time. I quite like her, always sing along when she comes on the radio! And of course Steel Magnolias is one of my favorite films. When we went to Florida a couple of years ago, there is a Dixie Dolly Stampede (I might not have the correct name there). Its a wild west show with horses, buffalo etc, with some of her songs and they show a film with her on it at the end. It was great.

Mary Yes the acapella was brill - my favourite was Jesus and Gravity with the Gospel style chorus - gave me goosebumps! I loved the way she spoke between the songs so you got a real understanding of her life and the story behind the songs. The story of her dad, the stature and the pigeon poo had me welling up. We were to the left of the stage in one of the raised areas - quite a way back from the stage and yes we were all up singing along!
