Found 'something' in my walk in run (with pics):-S

Recommended Posts

.....

If something was caught in the wire by it's foot/toe-perhaps it pooed in the panic??

that's quite probable, animals do defecate when they're scared.

whatever it was, thankfully it didn't get through fort knox ;)

A rabbit claw?

Nice that you sealed it in sellotape to preserve it. Funny the things we keep as trinkets isn't it?:wink:

Thought it might make a nice pendant for a necklace :D

Another possibility - perhaps a fox/cat had already savaged another animal and this was a bit of the remains - or even dropped by a passing scavaging bird/bird of prey? Or Aliens.

The roof is covered so I doubt something would have dropped it into the run but aliens.................aliens wearing fake tashes?? Think we are getting closer to solving the mystery :D

Doesn't look like a cat to me. the claw itself is too dark

It could be a dew claw... the funny little claw where an animal would have it's thumb. I know in small dogs they often catch and come off with little effect on the animal.

someones not going to be opening any beer cans anytime soon, thats for sure :P

I favour this theory (not the Aliens bit though!). We found a half eaten dead rat on our decking and we decided that had been dropped by a passing bird but it was too close to the house for it to come back for it (too many "it"s - sorry!!)

Looks like a rabbit claw, could have been left by the fox or dropped by a passing bird. I found a baked potatoe in the open run the other day, which is strange as we hadn't had any. Blamed it on the jackdaws who persist in trying to reside in the chimeny and leave all sorts of disgusting items, they use dog and cat poo as a lining for the nest, makes for interesting fires!

just adding my ten pence worth..... the claw is very small/short and well rounded...not like a cat or a rabbit or a fox the fur is too dark for a fox it looks like a dog's dew claw... it's smooth and well trimmed enough to look like a dew claw...or a well walked dog... but I cannot offer any explanation as to how it got there... sorry

Ooo err

Wonder if that's what's happened then??

Before deciding that it had to be a cat or a fox I actually said that it reminded me of a wild rabbit but knew that there is no way a wild rabbit would be able to get into the run never mind leaving a body part in there before escaping. Never thought of it being something in the Aubiose

I had recently cleaned them out too, only a week or so before.

Wonder if it is some animal part which was in the Aubiose then?? Possible I'm sure.

I found a mouse head in a bag of hay years ago

Had some great answers to this question btw  -thanks everyone :D
