-xJuliex-
Hi this is my 4th day of giving flubenvet to my girls, they have been so good having the grpaes...until today!! I'm really worried now becuase Vala grabbed Mindy's grape out of my hand and now she has had 2 doses! What should i do? Will it harm her? Im so angry at her...there was nothing i could do...i tried pulling it back but she ate it so quickly Julie x
Christian
Don't worry about it. She will be fine. For Gapeworm (nasty things) the dose is double as I understand it anyway. Carry on with the normal dosage tomorrow
chelsea
I've had a couple of snatch and grab incidents with flubenvet worming, dont worry - no ill effects here.
-xJuliex-
Thankyou! I was so worried! xx
NClaire
I read that you can't overdose on Flubenvet anyway. But if you gave a big overdose (not just 2 doses) or medicate for longer then you might withdraw the eggs.
..lay a little egg for me
I had a look to see what the 'overdose' amount was as I was afraid of the same problem with one hen stealing another's medicated grape. I found a scientific paper that said they had given over 625 mg/kg of bird with no ill effects ...I worked out that it was around 10 times the recommended dose, so no worries about double dosing! abwsco
I did the grapes method this time but am going to mix it in with their food next time as I'm sure it will be less stressful than trying to make sure each chicken has a grape with it on. My 8 girls turn into evil monsters when they see grapes
Egluntyne
This is why I always add it to the pellets, as with the grape method I would end up with 2 overdosed hens and several not treated. Edited July 11, 2008 by Guest
joybelle
I find the grape method difficult so I am going to put it in with their food. I`ve got seven hens so how much would I mix in the pellets each day? Regards joy
Egluntyne
Ridiculously small amounts! 1 teaspoonful per 4kg Pellets. I weigh the pellets and keep the medicated ones in a plastic box in the metal bin.
Ain't Nobody Here
I've overdosed using the grape method too . Fingers crossed, I've got the knack now - it's going successfully this week (although I only have 3 hens!).
Purplemaniacs
I too overdosed them with the grape method but I got the hang of it by the end of the week I think I will try it again when they need worming again. How long do you leave between treatments Chrissie
Ain't Nobody Here
I do it every 3 months.
