redfrock
I'm so excited. I have got an interview for the job I applied for. The closing date was only Friday, but it is all online, and there was an email waiting for me when I got home Sounds really scary though. It lasts just under 3 hours, and involves having to role play interviewing someone and then writing a report on the interview. I do this regularly in my current job, but this is a different 'discipline' so to speak so I am incredibly nervous. I have 4 weeks to swat up...... Mutrix Farmers
Good luck It's the thought of the interview that puts me off applying for a new job, I'm so out of practise. I'd rather do an exam or test to show I can do the job.
redfrock
Thanks everybody. You are all lovely. I must admit I had such a pants day at work yesterday that it has made me want out asap. Now, some advice. What should I wear? I haven't worn my suit for nearly 5 years and it is a little bit 'snug' (I will get there - Pengy you are my inspiration!). The girls at work have said that seeing as it is the height of summer, to just wear one of my smart pairs of trousers and a nice shirt. What do you think? Should I get a suit? Should I be wearing a jacket? My trousers are the equivalent of suit trews. I don't to be so hot that I am uncomfortable for 3 hours.... Tessa the Duchess
I think you should 'dress to impress' but I also think you should feel comfortable. Not much help really Tessa
clootie
Congratulations on the interview. You didn't say what the job is so difficult to advise on interview clobber. I'd wear something tailored, simple but fresh and no over the top accessories. Most importantly, smile! It's contagious! Good luck.

It is a traffic examiner for Vosa (civil service post) - basically it is an enforcement job ie. giving people prohibitions for breaching things like drivers hours, weights, hazardous goods etc, interviewing them and bringing cases before the Courts. I will be attending Court a lot, very much as I do now. I have a law degree as well, so I am hoping that I stand a good chance. I've bought a lovely shirt to go with my dark grey trousers. It is very smart - and the one thing I apparently have is a fantastic smile (shame about the rest of me ).
