Paola
Have any of you guys seen it? I wanted to see Kung Fu Panda but the times are to early So I am taking DD2 to see Wall-e while DD1 is away camping. A friend went to see it and was most unimpressed, so much so that she left early
chocchick
I've seen both. I liked it and there were some really touching/cute/funny moments. The voices were a bit annoying (probably a lot better for a child) from the robots saying Wall-E and E-Eve most of the way through. It went a bit Disney and sentimental with its environmental message. Liked the panda film too.
Cooks
might go and see this when we are away on hols as I've heard it's supposed to be funny, my oldest went to see kung fu panda with 3 other lads and 4 girls, they said the girls wanted to see it, but I had my doubts Wouldn't mind but you need a second mortgage to pay for the cinema these days with the over priced drinks and snacks etc... chocchick
I wouldn't have said Kung Fu panda was a boy film. It's about a cuddly animated panda
Goosey Lucy
Both my boys (8 & 4) enjoyed Kung Fu Panda and Wall-e but Panda was much more fun. I spent a large amount of time in Wall-e explaining what was happening to my youngest. The eco message was missed by them both. When asked what it was about, ES said 'friendship.' which it was also. A film that has messages for young and old. The cartoon at the start of Wall-e had me laughing out loud! It was fab. Both boys now want to go and see Space Chimps
Seagazer
My 10 year old saw Kung Fu Panda last week and absolutely loved it. Mind you he really enjoyed Mamma Mia as well. I think if we get a rainy day this week then I will take him to see Wall-e. He's been going on about it for ages. Lets hope its good. Helly Welly
We all thought Wall-E was the best film we'd seen in ages, and we see a lot of films.
Mutrix Farmers
13 year old Son and his friend went to see both, and enjoyed both. they said they were both funny. Although a friend took his 6 year old and found it didn't hold his attention (the father that is, I think the 6 year old enjoyed it!) Son now does Kung-Fu Panda impressions at every available opportunity!
The Dogmother
We went to see it - not impressed
Guest
On the last day of term I didn't have the bottle to ask the kids to bring in a copy of this (I know one of them would have got one!). My morals got the better of me and I didn't ask them as I knew it would have been a hooky copy. Turns out the one they did bring in was a hooky copy too - I was telling someone about the awful pile of rubbish that mesmerised a class of 15 year olds being a 15 despite being just a bunch of teenagers swearing at each other and they told me "Adulthood" isn't out on video yet I MUST get up with theese things. Oh well I guess it has a lesson plan now, the lesson was on the Copyright Design & Patents act!
MedusA
We went to see Wall-E last night and it was absolutely the BEST film I've seen in ages. The first 20-30 minutes is cinematic history in the making IMHO. However, I don't really think it's a kids' film at all. The subtext is palpable and there were homages to "Silent Running" and "2001" throughout. I will freely admit I had tears running down my face at times. Wall-E really is the cutest little thing. How the animators could manipulate heartstrings like that, is uncalled for. I loved the little robot with the cleaning OCD too. The classic-style animation short, shown before it, about the magician's bunny was hilarious and a real tribute to classic Hannah-Barbera and Loony Tunes. A thoroughly enjoyable evening for all (except my DD who said she hated it).
Helly Welly
Lin, i'm so glad someone else feels like us about Wall-E. I was really surprised that so any others didn't like it, we thought it was simply fantastic.
MedusA
We are obviously very discerning cinema-goers, Helly!
chickencam
Going to see it tomorrow, will let you know what we thought. YD is desperate to see it.
chickencam
Anyone any idea how long the preamble is to this film? I have booked to go to the 5.30 performance but I don't want to sit for 45 minutes watching adverts and rubbish, but equally I don't want to miss any of the film. We are going to Cineworld. chickencam
Went to see this last night, it was ok but I'm not sure it was worth the hype. Cartoon at the beginning was pretty funny Didn't like the scenes where they were playing with lighters, something bad should have happened to show children that this is not a good thing to do OH hated it and wished he had stayed at work, and we got very wet on the way to the bus stop.
