chocchick
http://s121.photobucket.com/albums/o224/chocchick_album/?action=view¤t=dscf1718.flv Here is poor Megan defending her grape from Abbie (who fights for grapes even when her beak is stuffed with one already) . Notice also Katy waiting cleverly for the 2nd potential grape to be thrown to her They did all get grapes in the end and even Megan got to eat one. stoice
That's so funny. And SO true. It's exactly how my girls behave. Any other food and they all bundle and squabble but grapes - they take their own piece off to the furthest corners away from the others to protect their 'precious'. Betty, my quietest, suddenly finds her bravery and will even chase Gladys the top chook for a grape! Babs will even try to eat the whole grape rather than carefully chopping it in case it's stolen. Very comical.

chocchick
Megan (with grape) is bottom chicken and won't touch food if Katy gives her a look, but will grab and run off with food. Abbie (chasing her) is head chicken.

daj198
Brilliant! It's so funny when the one who's got it puts it down to eat it but then has to pick it up again because the others try to steal it. Thanks for uploading this
jools+6
our girls do that too . it's like chicken rugby ! we actually give them things to eat just to watch and laugh at them running and sliding chilli is a riot , she's the smallest but always gets in there first . then she runs around with whatever it is in her mouth making a boking noise that sounds extremely like a laugh . Ain't Nobody Here
That's hilarious . They are so daft, aren't they?! All that effort just for one grape .
Snowy
Very funny Choccy Spice is my bottom chicken, but she is so greedy - she will do the same, grab something then run away with it, making a little bok bok bok noise as she runs. Often she keeps running round when there is no one chasing her!
Donna_0
That is sooo funny! Looks like our Barbara running around with a mouse in her beak last night! Margot got it first, then Babs went on the run ! -Barbara 28/07/08 -Margot 06/08/08 & Georgie the cat xxx

Valkyrie
They don't tire do they? I like the little one thinking, blow that for a lark! Sioux gobbles it in one and goes for the others just the same! Well done for the video.

dancing cloud
Aren't they funny? I love the way they do the "baby-bird beg" as well, if they think you've got something for them. My scoffalots would sell their souls for a grape and my bottom-of-the-pecking-order hen Chance will fight off the best of them for grapes, though she gives way on everything else. Still working on getting my fingers back before they're halfway down her throat though ...
stoice
I gave my girls cooked potato peelings last night and they behaved the same way as they do with grapes. Betty the 'quiet' bottom chook even had Gladys (the top chook) by her wattle and wouldn't let go till she dropped the peeling. I may have found a new favourite... or close second at least
