Scramble
I just had to say that my excitement is building up as the days go by, still eleven days left and yet I keep looking out of the window and expecting to see my eglu on the lawn. In fourteen days I'll be off to pick up my chickens and introduce them to their new 21st Century eglu. For now I can only imagine the joy in which caring for two chickens will be. To feed them and cuddle them and wash them and give them treats! I have never had pets before and I expect that this is why all this emotion suddenly rushes out of me, I can't stop smiling and, now, I feel constantly happy and at peace. Sorry for you to have to listen to this but I have already annoyed my family to the point of no return in which I'm not allowed to talk about the chickens until they're actually here. Although I thought as fellow chicken keepers you will hopefully understand what I'm going through. Thanks, x
purple hen
Sounds perfectly normal to me, have you started dreaming about chickens yet? Once your girls arrive i'm sure your family will soon be just as addicted as you.

AJuff
I think we all know how you feel. The waiting game is terrible. My OH wouldn't listen to my thoughts on hens after a while . . he was sick of chicken chats. I wanted to talk to everyone about hens. Even when I got them I wanted to talk. Just make sure you get enough hens first time round as they are so addictive. I started with three hens and now have ten (soon to be thirteen!) Perhaps I ought to get an even number! josephine77
Hi, I know just how you feel - I was so excited waiting for my eglu to arrive, and on the morning it was due I was up at the crack of dawn, pacing up and down. I have no doubt driven my OH mad talking about chickens - and it doesn't stop once they arrive either. One warning though - chickens will SERIOUSLY affect the tidyness of your home - you'll be far too busy sitting outside watching them, to even contemplate dusting/hoovering etc. Hope the next few days fly by for you! dancing cloud
We've all been there, and there's no going back I've talked 'chicken' to family, friends and work colleagues so much that I now have to restrict my self to only answering questions - I couldn't take the glazed looks any more. One of my work friends has just got chooks too, so we go for lunch once a week to talk chickens, otherwise it's this forum. Enjoy those chooks
Old Speckled Hen
Yep, since I retired to the country from a very stressful town career my daughter introduces me to her friends as "the chicken lady with scambled eggs for brains". Wonderful isn't it?

I'm glad that it's not just me who gets the tiresome looks for wanting to talk chickens! At least the forums here. Or I'd probably go insane. Thanks for all the replies.
