Valkyrie
Well Santa says "HO HO HO" - I'm sure he means "YO HO HO and a bottle of rum" really! Pusser I believe is from Purser - I think that the new pronunciation was made this way: "Oooh - you've got your tot of rum. Where did you get it from?" "Oive, hic, got . . . got it frommmmm the Pur, hic, Pur, hic, Pusser." It is quite strong stuff!! (But I've tasted even stronger - white and pure alcohol, almost like paint stripper, and a little like poteen, yuk). I do abstain from the hard stuff for the rest of the year and then I savour it and try and make the bottle last till my birthday, not quite an alcofrolic yet! Craftyhunnypie - that's where the Merry part of Christmas comes in - applies to anyone! Not seen Sailor Jerry - must keep an eye open or take off my patch yar harrrr. Innes and Gun, hmmm, one to try in the future, methinks. Thankies ChickyetcENN! Has everyone got their pressie yet?
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Koojie who is your avatar?!?!?! And if you like strong rum, try Wray and Nephew. Good for removing nail polish!
Olly
You can get Owd Roger - try here. Bit too strong for me! I am intrigued to hear that people still drink snowballs - I can remember my dad making these for my sisters and sister-in-law at Christmas (a suitable drink for a woman, you see ) and thinking they looked so exciting. By the time I was old enough to drink them, they'd gone out of fashion. I'm delighted to see my SS has arrived, despite being posted after the recommended date (hope I'm not giving anything away here, as so many have been received). I'll be opening mine tomorow morning before I set off on the long drive north.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I am intrigued to hear that people still drink snowballs. Oh gooddness yes! But only with a cherry on a stick and an umbrella. And I drink babycham. In the proper glasses!
Olly
Gosh - I think I'm missing out here, haven't drunk anything other than wine or gin for ages, and not much of those. However one of my friends does make a delicious lychee martini, I'm not sure quite what she does but it involves the syrup from a tin of lychees and some vodka. No umbrellas though and it does mean you're always left with half a tin of lychees to use up!

Cinnamon
That is so '70s glam I grew op in a nightclub, & we had some wonderful promotional glasses, & a huge fab amber coloured glass babycham deer. I wish I still had it,as it was just too kitsch for words

I wish I still had it,as it was just too kitsch for words We used to have a set of the babycham glasses - and most others! Oh the joys of an alcofrolic step dad, we had a wonderful collection of alcohol memorabilia that would be worth a fortune these days! Anyone remember the 'Pony' drink? I used to pester my parents for a pony (real one) for christmas and one year the stepfather said yes, I could have one!! Imagine my delight when I got a bottle of pony on christmas morning. Valkyrie
Tried to bring back memories for my family a couple of years ago with the Babycham - I was the only one who drank it in the end. Murray only drinks Pimms - glass of lemonade and a teeny drop of Pimms to colour it - otherwise he gets giggly. He doesn't really drink much, and occasionally a beer which has the same effect. Snowballs were given to us when I was a youngster, or a weak solution, so that we could feel like the grownups. Only the one taster though. DS is allowed a similar weak solution - she gets the fizzy, frothy yellow and very little alcohol (and then I can have the rest). Went to Waitrose and came back with a bottle of Sailor Jack which states on the back that "this is not a girly drink" - goody, goody. While we were looking I said "one of the girls said this one's nice" and a young lad behind me said "Ooooh yes, I didn't know they did that here, it's all vanillary and yummy - must get some for myself" - SOLD to the fat lady. But I can only remember My Little Pony - which I doubt is nothing like. Was it white? If it was, then very vaguely. Thank you Olly for the Old Rog tip. Will bookmark it for future use - OH's cousin loves it, so will be a nice surprise for her another time. Also Chickywickynenenenen, I will watch out for the Wray's nail polish remover - must be good then! My avatar is my OH - in my dreams! That is none other than Major John Shepherd AKA Joe Flanigan. He is in Stargate Atlantis and he's hothothothot!!! Actually there is a very hunky Hawaiian in that programme too - a giant with dreadlocks. Valkyrie
I'm fine, now I know how mum felt when she only had a bit of sherry and it made her arm go dead! Up at 5.30 this morning - who gets hayfever in the winter!! Bah! It lasted 2 hours and fortunately it has stopped. All pressies wrapped, bathrooms cleaned, turkey collected, girls fed, washing finished, ironed and put away and DD is still asleep!
craftyhunnypie
I'm still in my PJ's - no orders to send out today, it's bliss! Enjoying a luxury cuppa, radio on listening to Leona at the moment. Will get ready in a minute, then we are popping into town for some parsnips, which we both forgot & some bits from Aldi. Going with my friend this afternoon to choose some earrings she wants to buy me. Then home to hoover, dust, do the chickens & chicks & iron. Get the room ready, bring more chairs over for round the table. Make the trifle. Brother in law & sister coming round to drop the turkey off. He's got us a big beast! He is preparing it for us. Drinkies all round & a takeaway (chinese). Unless we walk into town. Then bath & bed to watch some nice telly. Open secret santa at 1 minute past midnight!!!
