Please light a candle and say a prayer

Recommended Posts

I was getting some keys cut for my new classroom and the chap cutting them was listening to an asian radio station and told me a plane had gone into the towers and we were talking about how it must be a tragic accident. He told me to shush as he heard on the raido that a second plane had hit.

We both looked at each other in shock and knew that it could only be a terrorist act.

No matter how many times i see the planes hit the towers its still as shocking as the first and i cant watch as the poeple jump from the towers as it evokes such stong emotions in me.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been effected by this tragedy.

I will never forget that day. :(

We were just driving away from viewing the house we now live in when we heard the news on the radio about the first plane hitting the towers...

I remember saying to my OH ' I bet Bin Laden has something to do with that'....

The thing was - we had arrived back in the UK 11 days before after leaving Saudi Arabia.

We had been getting increasingly uneasy about the Code Red alerts that were issued by the British Embassy, and the advice to check the car for bombs before leaving a supermarket car park, never mind to enormous amount of security around the compound we lived in.

Sept 11th reaffirmed our belief that we had done the right thing.

My thoughts and Best Wishes to everyone affected by the terrible day.

I thought from your earlier post that you must have lost a loved one,but didn't want to appear nosey by asking any questions. Our thoughts were with you yesterday.

There is a lot of love on this forum :D

I feel the Love, and thank you. I've never been able to make it to New York for the memorial service, tho I had planned to be there this year, but I couldn't do it.

Hi Mark

I am very late to this thread but I echo the thoughts above and earlier.

I went to New York first in 2006, a school trip with 80 teenagers. My husband , who is a firefighter, had organised a visit to Ground Zero as a result of working with a female captain who had lost her entire crew that day, amongst many friends and colleagues.

She came down to meet our group at Ground Zero and talked to them. It was apparently the first time she had been back there. We were shown around by some wonderful people and we finished up at the amazing fountain/water feature (I can't remember its name  )

The kids were very, very moved by the whole experience and the stories that they heard. A large number were in tears. Upon our return to the UK, Ground Zero was remembered by all as an amazing highlight inspite of what it represents.

My thoughts are with you.

Thinking of you yesterday.

This day brings back so many memories for me, I was 6 when my dad phoned from work and told my mum what had happened. We watched the news for the rest of the day, and I remember asking my mum ' Why did they do it?' She just shook her head.

Yesterday my R.E teacher told me that this was the same day his father died, 17 years ago. He's normally a cheerful man but he seemed very subdued. There is also a friend of mine who is in the sixth form whose father was in one of the builings went down. He didn't survive.

It's horrible to think what happened and how it affected people everywhere.
