laurmurf
Well I finally succumbed to the Omlet effect - my cube will look sparkling tomorrow! I did get a bargain though, local B&Q was selling the Bosch Aquatak Go for £40 today so didn't mind the price too much. It isn't the fanciest pressure washer around but it will do the job we got it for and a few others besides, I think!
Ain't Nobody Here
Just started looking at power washers again (due to our garden being done up next week and all the slabs looking really grotty ). Argos have a Karcher K2.14 in stock at about £60 but I'm concerned that the blurb mentions "entry level" and "lightweight" . Will it cope with a patio and driveway or is it more designed for garden furniture, cars (and eglus )?
Redwing
I have the 2.19 which will clean a patio but doesnt do that whole bringing-it-back-from-the brink thing so won't get existing inground dirt off, just maintain the slabs if they were already quite clean. I believe the 2.14 is bigger and more powerful though - I find the Amazon reviews quite good on these sorts of things I guess it depends if your patio and driveway are very dirty already, if so could you borrow someone elses all singing, all dancing version to do an initial clean then use your 2.14 to maintain it from there on in Does that make any real sense? I am off to find sugar!
Blackrocksrock
Tried to use mine today - I have the karcher large one on wheels and it has been frosted I think as water came spouting out of the middle and it got switched off very quickly! Ain't Nobody Here
Just back from B&Q. Got a Karcher K2.100 (about £60). I'll test it out tomorrow . Also got a bargain 10m lawn edging reduced to £2 .
chelsea
Bought OH a Karcher for his birthday on monday. Its fab and comes with lots of attachments and a patio cleaner. It was reduced by £100 from screwfix direct and came the next day after I ordered it.
Olly
Crikey ANH, have you been eavesdropping in my garden AGAIN? When I had debate with friend on Friday about where to put the walk-in run, and my concerns about cleaning the Cube once it is in place, she said 'why not buy a power washer, that will make it much easier'. I've been meaning to look for this thread ever since, and I logged on today and here it is! I didn't see you - were you lurking behind the greenhouse? I thought I saw something scuffling away into the evergreen border ...
Ain't Nobody Here
. Didn't you hear the sawing noises . Well ...... I'm knackered . All the slabs have been power washed and the poo tray and the roosting bars and the eaves of the house . The driveway now has nice roosting bar patterns on it . It's great fun and a bit addictive . I can't wait to get the eglu blasted (but no point till the WIR is here ). You'll be glad to hear I've laid down the saw (but taken up my new secateurs ). I'm going to have to borrow the neighbours' garden waste bins .
Blackrocksrock
Gosh you have been busy to-day power washing is addictive and if you are anything like me with the secateurs then look out plants - I usually do too much when I have them in my hand but it just happens!!! Olly
oh my goodness. I was in Homebase yesterday, and there was a small Karcher, down to just £40. Never having used a pressure washer, I couldn't see much application for it other than cleaning the Cube, but it was a bargain price and I thought it might be useful. I'd already cleaned the Cube, so today as I was tidying up after gardening, I thought I had better give it a try. I turned the lance idly on the paving slabs outside the back door. They are not, after all, grey as I believed. (I've lived here two years!) It turns out they are actually a lovely golden yellow colour, sort of York Stone effect. I can't wait to do the rest of the slabs, this could get really addictive!
Ain't Nobody Here
Grrr, it had better not be the model I paid £60 for . I can't wait to blast my relaid patio, but I've got to wait for the cement to set .
Olly
Well ANH, it's a K 2.14 - quite a small one! *ducks and runs for cover*
Cooks
@ Olly ducking I lov e my power washer as well, but hubby doesn't let me loose with it very often.. he's tool obsessive!
Ain't Nobody Here
Mine's a K2.100 so presumably smaller than yours . And £20 dearer . C'est la vie .
BarbaraJ
Mine was from Argos but its still sitting in the box as the garden is way to wet to pressure wash anything and add more water but look forward to my first cube clean!!
Olly
Must admit I was shocked at the amount of water left swilling around the patio ... I suspect it's not the greenest of appliances. I'm waiting for a dry day before I try cleaning the rest of it. I feel very bad at having caused disquiet in the ANH household. It is a very small pressure washer, I'm sure yours is much nicer, ANH! Anyway you've got your walk-in run coming soon to take your mind off it.
Ain't Nobody Here
Pressure washer? What pressure washer? My walk in run is arriving a week on Friday .
