Cube mk2 and WIR

My hubby's 40th is coming up and I know that he wants a Dab digital radio. I like the look of the PURE Elan RV40 DAB Radio. It has a live rewind feature that I know he will love and it displays phone numbers, websites etc. as they are mentioned on the radio.

 

Does anybody have any experience of this make or model?

 

Does anybody have any other recommendations?

I have a Pure Evoke 2XT in the kitchen and it's superb, the sound quality is fabulous (I'm a bit of a Hifi anorak!). I bought my mum a Pure Chronos with CD player and that is excellent too....I listened to various brands before I plumped on the Pure, but have been really happy with it.

Hubby has a Pure bug & that is very cool. It even has eyes on the digital display so it looks like a robot. Sound is very good, he loves his. John Lewis used to sell them.

i too have a pure bug and its great. it has loads of gadgety bits on it that are actually useful!! i would definatly get a dab radio. the sound really is great.

I've got a Pure Oasis and it's fab! Had to save up for ages as I felt it was a bit of an extravagance but it's lovely - I've even taken it camping as it's rechargeable. Don't know the model you are referring to, but I'd definitely buy another Pure.

I have two DAB radios; both Pure - one rechargeable and another very old one. I think I got that about six years ago when they first came out. That one does have a habit of crackling if I put the volume up too much but I think that that is to do with the age rather than anything else. Can't justify the expense of a new one so will just have to boogie to quieter music in the kitchen

I've got a Pure Elan. it's fab. Hubby won it on a radio quiz! The sound quality is excellent and is so easy to use. Plus you have the advantage of listening to new radio stations because you can just flick through them and don't have to remember a frequency.

We have one of the original Pure Evokes and it has really good sound quality, but doesn't go particularly loud, so volume can be a problem in a noisy house.

My Pure Evoke is over 6 years old now and still going strong.

 

Interestingly the digital signal in this country is not as high quality as in other countries and technically a perfect FM signal or a CD will be better sound quality. Not that I've ever noticed to be honest.

 

Where they do come in really handy is for the AM stations, or stations that you just would never pick up. Crackle free Radio 5 would be brilliant, but for the shambles that Newcastle are just now.

 

The live rewind function sounds brilliant!

We have 3 DAB radios ( two Pure and one battery one) fantastic sound. Planet Rock is brilliant........the sight of Little Miss Webmuppet grooving around the kitchen to some oldie rock track is a sight to behold! Plus Alice Cooper doing the breakfast show always brightens my morning.
