half dozen
we were woken up this morning by the girls making an almighty racket I had to go and investigate because this is most unusual to hear them.(they are living in the stable,in their cube with the door open). As I went across the garden the noise was unbelievable,I knew something was not right in there.I opened the top stable door and our cat came leaping out ,looking slightly shocked He had obviously sneaked in the stable last night when they were out in the garden and must have gone to sleep in the nesting box he was nowhere to be seen when I locked girls in stable last night It could of been a lot worse because he is a real hunter and I have never trusted him near them, hopefully now he will stay well away now.It makes us chuckle thinking of him in nesting box and the girls all on roosting bars staring in at him

Ain't Nobody Here
What a pity you don't have a webcam in there .
mostin
Cats will always find the best spots for sleeping in Your poor girlies, I wonder who was the most worried all night, as that's a lot of hens against one cat, even if he is a good hunter. Two of my hens have managed to round one of my cats into a corner, I laughed so hard I cried. I bet it was a staring contest all night. I can just imagine. Or even better, they all pretented that the other didn't exist until this morning so "Ooops, word censored!"ody would loose face.
Egluntyne
Oh my word....I thought this story was going to have an unhappy ending. Cats do like to be warm.
Angels4
Poor kitty. Imagine waking up with six ANGRY hens staring at you.
Olly
I bet he was terrified when he realised ... six hens v one cat, no contest in my view! It probably was very cosy in there though. I reckon Mostin is right, they all pretended it wasn't happening till morning.

WitchHazel
I had a similar experience with my ginger cat. When we first had the Cube we were shutting the Cube door each night. One night, I shut the girls in, came back to the house, and realised that I hadn't checked for eggs. I went back down the garden, opened the nest box door, and found my gineger boy asleep on the Aubiose in the nest box. He was as snug as a bug in a rug. piptiddlepip
LOL! My Malachy would love to spend the night with the hens as he wants to be their best friend. Unfortunately Aggie isn't having any of it. I bet he didn't sleep much either! Malachy is a ginger boy as well...must be a ginger cat thing! dancing cloud
My Loki is tabby and he has always loved his girls - it's not mutual, but they let him sit with them in the garden every now and then He has been found on several occasions asleep in the Cube whilst the hens are in the garden, but has always been turfed out when they want to go in. I don't think he'd risk a close encounter! Tubby Pud doesn't like the hens one bit, but she's quite a jealous creature. Maybe it's a boy-cat loves the girl-hens thing?
