The Weather Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

Here at Preesall near Blackpool near to the mouth of the River Wyre and 400yards away from the cockling beaches of the delta of Morecombe Bay. 16 miles from Lancaster, 5 miles from Poulton Le Fylde and 2 miles from Pilling.

It has been a mix day of weather from before dawn until about 2 pm it was overcast with a slight to moderate wind which increased during the afternoon to gale force.

This brought in the very heavy rain storms and the very cold wind.

Yesterday was an interesting late afternoon as whilst I was out driving for the special need children who required taking home from school. Valerie my better halve was in the middle of having our TV repaired ( loosing channels every day and was told this is due to the switch over to digital which is happening in our area soon) when she saw a small hedgehog on our front lawn.

It is now rescued and safe hopefully for the rest of the winter. It seems that it could be from a second litter and because these hedgehog are so small they have not got the fat to sleep though the winter so go around trying to find food.

The RSPCA and the hedgehog rescue service are full to over flowing with them you can get help and told to keep them safe and well so that they can be put into your garden in the Spring. More news on this later........

So how is the weather in the rest of the UK?

I also note that we now have a new tittle so we all can report on weather whether at home or on holiday from wherever you are, great news and thank you to who ever changed it out of the moderators.

Best regards

Wow Ian, I'm impressed by the detail of your location...very attentive to detail  . I'm approx 300m from the shores of Lake Rotorua, 70km from Taupo, 280kms from Auckland and approx 13,000 miles from London :lol::lol::lol:

Torrential rain here right now, but still warm, 20oC 8) . Great weather forecast for Christmas, although we may have a few more rainstorms to endure tomorrow before the weather changes early part of next week. I think our farmers are collectively heaving a huge sigh of relief because they've been seriously worried about the risk of drought caused by the recent run of hot & dry weather.

(Not being a farmer though I've been loving it :oops::oops: )

I hope that the weather over there is being kind to you all. Wrap up warm and enjoy the frosty mornings :D

Hey, quick edit, not sure if this counts as a weather contribution or not, but certainly a natural phenomenon. I should have experienced my first earthquake last night, 5. something on the Richter scale, but I missed it...slept right through it  . I tried to explain to hubby that it was the earth moving rumbles of his snoring that I've become immune to now that gave me the ability to sleep straight through the earthquake, but he wasn't too impressed with that explanation :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Where was I :?:

It has been cloudy all day but the threatening rain has held off and it has been, again, a mild day with temperatures hovering around the 10 degree mark.

Hi everyone

Here at Preesall near Blackpool near to the mouth of the River Wyre and 400 yards away from the cockling beaches of the delta of Morecombe Bay. 16 miles from Lancaster, 5 miles from Poulton Le Fylde, 2 miles from Pilling and 16 miles from Preston in the county of Lancashire.

The weather had had a laugh at us first by starting dry and warm but as the day went on so the weather changed. Mid afternoon it was raining and windy with the rain falling at an angle not the best try of weather to be out in. The weather this evening has been very windy almost gale and the rain has died out.

My son was a college this afternoon on an addition to his course of learning the hands on part of game keeping and managing of the countryside. He came home partly wet and mostly dry because he has bought some specialized clothing, last month.

As regards the hedgehog, I was already going to the vets today with Millie our 10 year old Boxer girl, so I took our hedgehog as well.

It was given the once over with the vets after Millie as given an a OK , we think Millie has had a mini stroke so we are watching her.

The young hedgehog was weighed yesterday,Friday when found, its weight was 275 grammes, today Saturday the weight had increased to 300 grammes so 25 grammes increase which made the vet very pleased. She was also pleased because although small and not able to hibernate there are no visible health signs of any problems.

So there you have it an other interesting day so the weather here has been mixed.

How has the weather been in your neck of the woods wherever you might been within the world?

Best regards

Very windy here but also quite mild.

I have put washing out on the whirlygig for the first time in weeks, hopefully it will dry in no time.

Due to the milder weather this week the grass needs cutting  , and there are spring bulbs popping up all the garden 8)

Hi Everyone

Here yesterday it was a mixture of sunshine and showers. I managed to sort out the garage and do a recycle run / tip run.

At the moment it is dry but the night clouds are still here.

Ardene 5 which is my user name on here I also use on other sites , this includes E bay.

What is the rest of the UK like today?

Best regards
