Joojoo
I've had BT Broadband for 18 months and have decided to change to a far cheaper package with Talk Talk. Can I get the flipping MAC code from BT? Nightmare I phoned them last week and after 45 mins on the phone with a very aggressive customer services advisor offering me all sorts and telling me how I would seriously regret leaving them, I eventually managed to persuade him to send me the MAC code. "It will take 5 working days, Mrs ** to arrive in your inbox." It has still not arrived. I have just got off the phone from them after being cut off the first time I asked where it was, and now I have to wait for a manager to phone me over the weekend as they can't just issue it I'm really not a happy bunny now Absolute idiots. My stress is made worse by reading horror stories about all the other companies. Is there anyone out there in omlet land who is happy with the broadband provider? I had considered moving to orange broadband as this would be free with my mobile contract but after reading about them I'm even more worried that it would be a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire. Unfortunately, Talk Talk don't offer free broadband in my area at the moment so do I just pay £15 per month for it and put up with it or risk going to a cheaper one? HELP!!!!!!! Omletina Kyckling
O2! O2! O2! If you haven't already guessed, I like O2!! I was with Tiscali before, absolute nightmare. O2 are great. I've only ever had two problems with my connection in the past year and they were fantastic - customer service is in the UK and free to 'phone, they were very quick to react and apologetic. The first problem was with my router so they sent me a new one which arrived the next day. I pay £7.50 a month because I'm an O2 mobile customer, but I think they have reduced their price to £12.50 for non-O2 customers too. I can't praise them enough - I think they come out top on customer service ratings, but not sure.

I can't praise them enough - I think they come out top on customer service ratings, but not sure. I second and third that. O2 are brilliant!! Their technical support is superb. It took over an hour to set up Broadband on DH's pc because of some firewall problems, but the guy said he would sort it out even if it took all night, and sort it out he did I pay £12.50 per month which is cheap and we have never had a connection drop. Before that I was with Virgin Mobile and the connection was so unstable it was sometimes down for hours at a time Don't whatever you do change over to Orange, they are rubbish and according to friends they also take ages to send you the MAC code if you want to change provider. I thought, though may be dreaming it, that by law they had to send you the MAC code within 7 days. Hope you get it sorted out soon. Geoid
If they haven't given you a MAC within 5 working days, they are breaking the law. Contact Ofcom, they will sort it for you.
Chickvic
We had Virgin broadband a few years and that was always reliable, we switched to Talk Talk because it was free. It does go down occassionally but not for any great length of time and I use it mostly on this forum

Guest
I am very happy with Tiscali, was with Sky last year who were good but got a better deal now. Previousl been with Virgin who were OK ish but tricky over the MAC code, BUT that was before 14th Feb 2007 when the rules (not laws!) changed and they had to provide you with one. The worst connection problems I've had (Mum too in her old house) were on the Talk Talk "free" service. Not one problem since I've been with Tiscali, although when I moved here (Also before the 2007 rule change) the previous owner couldn't get a MAC code out of Tiscali and I couldn't get them off my line for a month - a month without internet access would have been a nightmare if nextdoor hadn't let me use theirs. I think there is good and bad about all of them.
ubereglu
We've got AOL. Not too bad, they're useful for when you have problems as you can just phone them up and you actually-after a short wait-get someone to talk to.
Snowy
I'm with Tiscali. Went with them initially because the package was cheap - we pay, I think, about £20 a month, but that includes all phonecalls, including calls abroad (important as my bro is in Canada and friend in Norway, both included in the call package). Never had a problem with them, but I've never needed to call customer services yet!
