Son's first week at uni

Recommended Posts

When we went for a flying visit to DD I needed to use the bathroom. So wish I hadn't but Nottingham is a long way. Apart from the hmmm cleanliness of it, there were about 20 empty loo rolls on the floor :shock: I said to my DD hadn't anyone thought of throwing them away, but apparently not!

Only just caught up with this thread and those texts made me howl. Excellent!

My nephew has just gone off to uni. My sister spoke with him and checked that he was eating ok. She was very impressed when he told her of the lovely meal that he had had the previous evening. He went on to say that one of the girls in his flat is a really keen cook and insists on cooking his meals for him. She then asked if he had done any washing yet. He hadn't had to do it because another girl on his course had taken a load to her home and done it for him! :eh: I despair!

[edited to amend "coking" to "cooking!" It looked a bit weird and could have led to misunderstandings!)

Not until they can't get to the loo for all the cardboard tubes!

Most student houses play 'kitchen bin jenga'. You stack up the rubbish as high as you can until it falls over. The person who knocks it down has to empty the bin.

Love those texts!

Very funny. Thanks :lol::lol::lol:

I'd like to imagine that my son will be more organised when his turn comes...he definitely knows how to wash his clothes, change the loo rolls, knock up a basic meal etc....but I suspect that his inherent laziness together with the typical student lifestyle & demeanour as well as escaping from home will kick in, and I'll be getting texts on a similar vein :roll: .

Maybe it's that sort of experience that teaches them to appreciate everything we've done for them.

I hope he's enjoying himself at Uni :?:D:D

Hope that your son will learn soon...Fred, getting other people to do things for you is NOT the way to go, it just means when you're on your own you're stuffed!

I'm hoping to be vaguely organised when I go to uni-this time in three years :o - I know how to cook, do washing up, use the washing machine etc - however with all the work that optometry takes I'm definitely going to have cooking weekends where I cook about three weeks of food and freeze it so when I get it I can whack it in the oven.
