ScottishMike
That Rablu I was going to bid for on Ebay (thread in the For Sale forum) - I am now NOT going to bid on it - there was a sugegstion that other omlet forumites would not bid on it - If you were interested, it's still there until about 7:30pm tonight!!! I'm really sorry if this about face cuases anyone to lose out - but had a heart to heart with the Mrs and she is SO totally opposed to keeping hens just now, there simply is no point in pursuing it just now I've posted about this in here, in the Chicken forum, and on the original thread in the For Sale forum. Sorry for splashing it around the place, but I don't want anyone to lose out!!!!

Angels4
Sorry to hear your OH has put her foot down and won't even think about keeping hens. Is there not someone close by who has an Eglu or Rablu that you might be able to visit? Maybe that will win her over.

Ain't Nobody Here
I posted this in another thread for you, Mike . Right, you need to take action . What exactly has she got against having chickens? Does she just say no, or has she got some genuine concerns? If you can give us her reasons against, we can all come up with reasons for and you can show her our replies . I think a lot of people have preconceived ideas before they have chickens of their own and need to be educated . If she'd agree, I'd be more than happy to let you both visit my eglu (we're very close to the bypass so easy to get to!). Just warn me and I can make it as clean and lovely as possible to win her over .
Lesley
Mike - you could always suggest that you buy it to keep for a while? It is the best way for you to acquire an Eglu for less than having one delivered new from Omlet and it will hold its value. You can say that if you don't go ahead and use it then you can re-sell it and probably not lose any money? Just a thought........ Then you might find that there is a BHWT rescue in your area......and it would be such a nice Christmas present (to the hens of course ) to rescue some............. Hens are easier to look after than both children and dogs............. an Eglu will hardly add to the workload.........
Paola
an Eglu will hardly add to the workload......... I agree. It amazes me every time I clean it out how easy it is

Guest
My Mum lives in the granny annexe and she said NO CHICKENS for 6 months. Then I wore her down and she said "oh buy one on Ebay and we can sell it again 6 months later when you've had enough of the Nasty Pecky things" She has since paid for 2 cubes and to have a large run built. She loves "her girls". Total convert!
ScottishMike
Now, that is the kind of story I hope I'm going to be able to tell in a year or two's time
ubereglu
It only went for £137 too, I was utterly amazed. If I lived closer I would have bought it and just converted it. I know, not helpful to you Mike, but maybe in a few years time your circumstances will have changed and it will be an option for you. At the minute I am wondering why I'm keeping chickens though as three of them are moulting and the other one is over her moult but not laying.
