laurmurf
I'm so cross i could spit. I ordered Guitar Hero - World Tour for the children's big christmas present this year. Ordered it ages ago from Amazon, kept it all very quiet. Warned then neighbours in case the parcel arrived while we were out - no such luck. It was delivered yesterday, SAturday morning, in front of the children, with no wrapping - nothing. I've never had a parcel from amazon that wasn't wrapped in their distinctive brown paper wrapping before. 5 weeks to go and christmas morning is already ruined. I sent a stinking email to amazon, and their response was a thank you for your input to our service and here's a £3 voucher off your next spend. I would return the whole thing and get my £150 back if i thought it would achieve anything. be warned all, if you are expecting a big parcel from Amazon - lock the kids in a cupboard before you take delivery. Cooks
oh that's horrible, shame on you Amazon!!!
Plum
How stupid. It would obviously be for a present. Go and bite a brick!
Snowy
Aaah, how frustrating! (Couldn't you tell them it was delivered for the house across the road/next door or something?)
jackiepoppies
Oh bum, bum , bum ,bum! Have just ordered DD an e reader, and it's got to go to her address 'cos we live here! She already knows about the Eggskelter even though she was told not to look She may be 30, but I still want to surprise my kids Jackiex
Lesley
Oh! what a shame - I'd be spitting too Is it too late to do as Snowy says, and pretend it is for neighbours?
laurmurf
I wish i'd thought quickly enough! My face told the whole story.... i wanted to cry, i really did. Big decision this year to avoid individual presents and go for a big present for them to share and play together. That's it for christmas morning... I don't know what response I expected from Amazon but a huge apology and an acceptance of just how bad their action was - an email and £3 off is a slap in the face. redhotchick
That is unfortunate Laurie. Tell them it was broken and you can't get another one. I'm sure they will still be super excited to get to play with it on Christmas day.
Egluntyne
Oh heck...what a shame. Almost as bad as them not delivering it at all.
bluekarin
That is awful! I've only ever ordered books and cds from them and they came wrapped in cardboard. £3 is no compensation for a surprise spoilt A couple of years ago I managed to spoil my DS birthday pressie. I won a Imaginext fire station on Ebay and when it was delivered I was so excited, but was busy so left it on the table to hide away. My hubby went to pick the kids up from school and DS came in the door saw it straight away and said 'Wow, thanks mum!' All I remember is cringing inside and trying to think of a way out of it. Another time, my ED was home from school ill when a parcel arrived which was for the three of them as a joint Xmas pressie. I can't remember what it's called, but its a large ball with a plastic ring attached so it looks like Saturn and you bounce on it. Anyway, it was wrapped so you could see what it was from looking at it! I was rather cross!
Bassett
I'd definately take matters further with Amazon. Are your children young enough to pull their bluff? Perhaps say the delivery was broken and you have to send it back or something similar??? Hope it works out.
kitbag
no OMG- thats terrible!! I can't believe Amazon woulden't think to wrap it up!! I would be cross too - can you exchange it for something else!?
Phonix
That's awful and their response was despicable!! You order the smallest thing from them and it comes packaged in extra boxes and wrapped in paper so you'd think something like that would have much more care taken with it. So close to christmas you'd think that they'd take extra precautions to make sure that everything is properly wrapped up so you can't tell what anything is - they should KNOW that most things ordered at this time of year would be for presents and with most of them they will be for someone in the same house!! £3 is as you say a slap in the face and as for the patronising horrid email that they sent ARGH!!! Redwing
Thats such a shame, I just ordered a big parcel from them and it wasn't in the cardboard packaging they normally send but was wrapped in blue plastic covering - I am guessing if they have blue plastic they could wrap pretty much anything in it so there is no excuse! Go back to them and say £3 is an insult!
Yorkshire Pudding
Laurie that's awful - why on earth it wasn't wrapped is beyond me, everything else arrives boxed and filled with those plastic balloon bags. Did you order from Amazon itself or from one of the marketplace sellers? We are also having a moan at Amazon as OH is trying to buy a new camera; he has ordered twice from their marketplace and both times the transaction has been a failure. The first time the seller amazingly had no account set up to receive payment. The second one had only a small number of cameras available, and they had sold out but the page was not updated in time. OH waited a day before he ordered an accessory for his new camera, then got an email to say they had sold out and he wouldn't be getting it after all. That would have been helpful if it had been sent immediately but it took 2 days. He has emailed Amazon and got a polite but not very helpful response. I don't think £3 comes anywhere close to compensating for spoiling your Christmas surprise.
redhotchick
I don't think £3 comes anywhere close to compensating for spoiling your Christmas surprise. I agree, it's paltry. an insult. What value would you put on it though? A sincere apology and enough to buy an extra surprise would be nice.
abwsco
That's dreadful and like you say £3 is an insult
MedusA
I'm really . I've ordered loads from Amazon over the years, and always had good service. This is awful and their response is unconchable. Personally, I would return the item and take my business elsewhere. I would be so
Redwing
Many companies just don't understand that a sincere apology is what most people are looking for, even better if they say they learned from your feedback or offer you some explaination as to what went wrong in your case. Ain't Nobody Here
That's awful . I can understand why you're so upset . I just don't know what to suggest to make it better.
Olly
That's terrible. I've ordered loads from Amazon this year, and it always comes wrapped in their brown cardboard wrappers - I'm astonished at that. I think you should try and take it further, however I know that while their service is usually very good the customer service i.e. if you want to complain, is pretty awful. Any chance the kids will forget by Christmas? Can you say you were taking delivery for a neighbour/relative/colleague? As you say, it's probably too late now. Lesley
Why not give them one more chance to redeem themselves (to an extent) with a decent apology and then, if they are still adamnat that they've done nothing wrong, warn them that you'll take your story to a national newspaper? Not much use to you now - but it may save others from the same fate?
laurmurf
that's not a bad idea - I'm going to email them now. I think I might post them a link to the forum - what they have to look forward to in micrcosm. BEWARE THE OMLET EFFECT!
