Ain't Nobody Here
has been named Sports Personality of the Year . Well deserved in my opinion (and it's nothing to do with him being from Edinburgh and having gone to my and the kids' school ).
Guest
who is he? I guess someone from the Olympics? I figured one of them would win rather than Lewis Hamilton. I mean - I've heard of Lewis Hamiliton therefore he couldn't win!
Redwing
He is an Olympic cyclist. I am glad he won it.

Seagazer
Fantastic news that Chris Hoy won Sports Personality of The Year - we were all rooting for him in this house. What a great year he has had.
..lay a little egg for me
Definitely deserved to win it...how many other (UK) sports people win three gold medals in a single Olympics?
bluekarin
I am so pleased he won. It was amazing to watch team GB at the Olympics.
Mutrix Farmers
Well deserved winner!! Feel a little sorry for Lewis Hamilton, if it hadn't been Olympic Year he would have won.
bronze
I don't think Lewis should win it ever. It is called sports personality after all. I want Ben ainslie to win something. I dont think he gets enough glory.
Mutrix Farmers
Bron you have a good point there, Ben Ainslie or Rebecca Adlington it is then!

I dont think he gets enough glory. Surely thats exactly why Hamilton should win - he has a lovely personality and a nice smile. He always seems so nice when I see him interviewed and to do so well and be so determined from such a young ages means he is a great sports personality. I've never heard of the winner or the bloke you mention - their personalities obviously aren't shining out of sport and into any other arena. Usually I have heard of the winners in some way - even though I never read about or watch sports reports.
chelsea
glad Chris Hoy won it. I wanted him or the swimming lass (sorry forgot her name). not keen on Lewis Hamilton at all (dont know what it is about him....bit smug??), anyway if Hamilton wins F1 next year he always has another chance The olympics only come every 4 years so it might be Chris's last chance to win it. I am sure that Lewis Hamilton will win it soon. He's got years ahead of him to keep winning the championship. I think that he is a nice enough chap. Spots personality has usually been a bit of a misnomer anyway. Remember when Nigel (no personality at all){imho!!} Mansell won it?

Surely there are other big events he can win in between?? Still not sure what type of cycling he does but we've had other great cyclists out in the Tour D France and stuff havn't we? The way F1 is going who knows what will happen next year??? What I like about Lewis is always seeing his Dad there - and that brother of his. Lisa
So glad Chris Hoy won! He has beaten world records and is also such a team player - genuinely nice guy who has supported and encouraged other cyclists. Winning 4 gold medals in two consecutive olympics and not even competing in his favourite 1km event this olympics. Quite inspirational. Well deserved! Ain't Nobody Here
Pengy, you haven't heard of Chris Hoy because he hasn't been on Top Gear . Not really into sport, from what I've gathered, are you?! He does seem a lovely bloke - he came into my boys' school with his medals and was apparently a big hit with the kids (and staff!) . sparkysmum
I'm with all the Chris Hoy supporters A great result and I understand the cycling team got an award too - brilliant. A genuinely "good egg" by all accounts Allisonx
jlo
Just to go off topic a little... Did anyone else think that Heather Small's performance was a bit - well - off? She is normally such a stong singer and, whether it was the acoustics and the size of the place, her voice was not so good and she seemed to be off time sometimes. A real shame as I love that song. Guest
Pengy, you haven't heard of Chris Hoy because he hasn't been on Top Gear . Not really into sport, from what I've gathered, are you?! . THAT'S the problem! WHY hasn't he been a "Star in a reasonably priced car" HOW could they give sports personality of the year to someone who hasn't been on Top Gear???? and WHY did the show clash with Top Gear - surely they know it will have meant no-body actually watched the sports drivel!!! Actually the only sports I like are cycling and F1 - I used to be an avid Tour viewer but I seem to have missed it the past few years. Mind you cycling round a track never did it for me - I like road crashes me. OK thinking about it I DON'T like sport - just a good crash!! But you have to admit the drama of that final F1 race has to have been the best sporting moment of the year - I was actually shouting at the telly!!!
