craftyhunnypie
What on earth to wear for travelling in? I mean what does everyone wear when travelling (flying long haul)? We are flying to Thailand, but we have a stop in Abu Dahbi & in Bangkok. On our return journey we also stay over in Abu Dahbi. Last year I wore cropped trousers, t shirt & sassari crocs. Sassari crocs are a no no for travelling in & I also felt a bit scruffy. I don't want to look fat either in too comfy clothes! I want something smart casual, comfy & quite bright & holiday ish. I think I'll be wearing my Adara crocs or Nile crocs on my feet - yes in February. But we only have to walk to the taxi in the cold. I don't want to spend too much on a travel outfit, as I usually buy a new one each year. Perhaps a nice nautical look? Navy crop legs, red t shirt, white shirt? Help!!!! Geoid
Jeans (the 'light' ones - if you know what I mean...), comfy t-shirt (in blue or black) smart trainers. Edited February 3, 2009 by Guest
Cinnamon
No, not jeans. They are too heavy & unyielding for long houl, & will leave you with tummy creases which is such a bad look in a bikini I would do leggins/thin gym pants in a nice light stretch, bootcut if you can get them, a t shirt, a light cardi which you can loop around your shoulders & normal Crocs. I tend to wear Crocs with thin black socks on a plane, so they don't make your feet feel clammy - you can pop the socks of when you get to Thailand. You can't see the socks if you wear them clog style with long trousers which are flarey or bootcut Don't forget to pop your sunnies in your handbag too
craftyhunnypie
Thanks Cinnamon - I've seen a few bootleggy legging sort of things about. I'm going to go shopping on Thursday afternoon for an outfit. Sunglasses are all ready to go. Can you tell I'm getting a teeny bit excited! I've just tried my new bikinis on to make sure I'm ok in them - not too concious. I cut do with cutting half a bag of sugar size off my tummy, but apart from that I'll do. I just look solid, like I work out / weight lift, that's my problem...muscle! At least I haven't got weight lifters boobs (ie: non existent). I'm waffling a bit now..time to get some new crocs quick!!!! Emma.x
Guest
I go for linen trousers - light and still look good rumpled, a strappy vest under a shirt for layers and a PASHMINA which can be worn like a scarf OR added to the super thin blanket!! Oh and Mammoth crocs!
craftyhunnypie
Strappy top & shirt I think yes. But I once wore linen trousers and my god were they rumpled. Lovely sit down creases in them. I don't think I could wear mammoth crocs either - its so hot in the middle east when we get there. I also don't like my feet enclosed. I think my pink nile crocs are going to be hot favourite. M & Co have a sale on, I like their clothes, so will pop in tomorrow (brave the snow)! MadMitch
Depends if its a schedule flight or a chartered flight. Charter flights I dont care what I fly in as long as its comfy. When I fly schedule I always wear a very smart lightweight suit just in case the plane is fully booked. Its so much easier to get upgraded to business or first class that way. craftyhunnypie
They are scheduled & we are flying with Ethihad, which are posh in themselves. So it will have to be smart. Emma.x
Rhapsody
Cargos, crocs/mules, t-shirt& pashmina will take you from anywhere to anywhere And if you are paying for the ticket, you wear whatever the hell you please!
The Dogmother
Cargos, crocs/mules, t-shirt& pashmina will take you from anywhere to anywhere Exactly what I used to wear when I travellled long haul. Pashmina is essential as they are so light but warm.
craftyhunnypie
Perhaps some of those cargos that you can zip off the legs? The thing is - I've just remembered, we are booked into the V.I.P lounge at Manchester & they are very fussy! Emma.x
The Dogmother
I just wear long cargos Emma - it's not like you'll be in them in the heat for long.

redhotchick
I wear trousers with zip off legs. Trekking sandals (with socks for travelling). A t-shirt and a lightweight jacket. My jacket is a thin fleece, I never use it once we get to our destination. Too hot! I'm not one to worry about how I look, but it would be nice to be "smart/casual". I pack light and just take hand luggage, even long haul flights and going away for 3 weeks at a time. I don't have the space to wear lots of things that I won't use. Sunglasses and a pashmina sound like a good idea. Where can you get a reasonably priced pashmina? I'd like some sandals with toe protection too. Or shoes with lots of openings if you know what I mean! Enjoy your holiday!
missuscluck
This is interesting. We are going away soon to America and I was just going to fling a pair of jeans on but Im thinking now something else would probably be more comfy. Cargos, linen trousers of smart sweat pants sound a much better option.
craftyhunnypie
Ok, so I'm back! I've got some nice black cropped leggs in a sort of brushed cotton & a lovely top that is floaty, black with red, white & sort of orange polkadots on. It's nice, smart & comfy. I have some nice red jewellery that will look nice with it. It will be some sort of crocs on the feet. Hubby says I'll need socks for a bit. Yuk! So I've compromised and got some trainer socks, which won't really be seen if I wear my crocs clog style. Well we'll see. I don't want to look a nerd! So now I have the chore of sorting through my summer clothes & hubbys - to see what to take & iron. Emma.x
